In 1981 one of my favorite songs came out “Bette Davis Eyes” by Kim Carnes. It was the biggest song of the year. I love the actress and the song. It sat on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks. The song was on her album New Arrangement. The actress Bette Davis who was then 73 wrote to Carnes and the songwriters Weiss and DeShannon thanking them for making her a part of modern times and said that her grandson finally looked up to her. When the song won at the Grammys she sent them roses.
The Song of the Year was a lovely song “Sailing” by Christopher Cross. The song won Record of the Year and Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist.
The best song of this year was “Don’t You Want Me” by Human League. This song completely escapes my memory. Perhaps the music experts on here can inform me of what I have missed.
What do you think of these songs and the artists?

all three are great songs - nice that Bette Davis liked the tribute to herself too
