Location of Mylotters

I like to know where Mylotters come from, I find it really interesting so I always check out a person's location as I love to hear about cultural and language differences. Take the USA for instance, although we speak the same language there are so many differences. Some words over there are acceptable but rude over here. We both have the word 'biscuit' but they have theirs with gravy whereas in the UK it is sweet and we have it with a drink or as a snack on its own. I also love to hear about other countries and their different way of life. India for instance tends to have much larger families than we do. Australia is having their winter while we are having our summer and yet we all come together in a place like MyLot and share our experiences. Do you always look to see where a Mylotter comes from? I always do and I would suggest to all users to indicate where they live. When you read "in my country" and the user has not mentioned where he/she lives, the discussion is pretty meaningless. I live in Switzerland, but I am Italian.

Yes, I must check my settings because although the area is around right MyLot has placed me in a little town about 4 miles from where I actually live,.

@LadyDuck Oh I don't mind. I've just checked my settings and there is a drop down list. Corsham is the nearest place to my location which is why I chose it but it's a really small place so I'm quite surprised.

@sprite1950 I have skipped to mention the town, I consider this confidential.

I also take note of where the member comes from. Cultural difference can cause misunderstanding. Like what we consider humor might be offensive to others with different backgrounds.

That's true, I hadn't thought of that and the British sense of humour can definitely be misinterpreted!

Not everyone puts on their profile where they come from. I guess some people like to be more private.

Location is automatically be seen alongside their names so it's nice interacting that comes from different places. We may have been raised in different cultures but we still respect each other despite our differences.

I often check it. But when I joined I didn't know that I can give my country to my profile page, so it was empty for a few days.

It is interesting to know where they came from because it gives you a glimpse of their background like their culture and traditions or their views on different topics and issues.

Our house as seen from the wine tasting room on the hill above us.
I must not have seen this when it was first published. I live on the Central Coast of California, about 30 miles inland. I love where I live except for my state government. I'm close to the mountains and the beaches and my area is full of vineyards. You can see our small house in the photo below. The photo was taken from the tasting room on the hill above the vineyard next door to us.

I too love to know people of different countries, their language and their culture. One interesting for me to see is how English is spoken/ written in different parts of the world. In fact, some words I fail to understand and they are not found in any dictionary.

Yes, I love the differences between US and UK. We speak the same language but there are lots of small differences I like to know about. I love knowing about food from other countries too. I expect if you can't find a word it's probably slang. You can always ask because I think most people would be willing to help here. I certainly would.
