Should this be a required course in school each year with a recap in college?

With bullying, backbitting, and poor relationships today, do you think a values and behavior course should be required from grade school to college? Do you think it would work? People need to treat each other with respect. With the headlines we are reading about children and adults and abuse, we cannot depend on children being taught to respect others at home.

I think it would be a good idea, as long as it is backed up by example, not just taught as theory.

I agree that theory is not enough.

I don't think it would work. Number 1, if they aren't taught those values at home, they're not going to just start doing it when a teacher tries to instill it in them. Number 2, kids don't listen to their teachers now, they certainly wouldn't if they tried to teach them morals, especially since they didn't learn it at home. Teachers are to reinforce what kids learn in the home, not teach them something alien to them, and moral education would be alien to the kids today.

@MsBooklover I agree, but unless it starts in the home, it's not going to happen. Besides, the Bible says it will get worse before Jesus returns.

@just4him I would think parents who raised their children from the time they were born would have the most influence. It is to bad many don't use it. You are right. We can expect it.

Something needs to take places because things are getting worse.

It all begins at home with proper discipline. I guess you are right. If the adults don't teach by example, they kids will behave in a misguided manner, so the course might or might not work but should be given a chance to see if it will do some good.

Schools with Christian values behind have Value Education classes in India. This definitely helps.
