On March 27th it was 9 months since I had my open heart surgery. Since that time I have lost over 50 lbs. I walk between 6-8 miles a day every day. I remember laying in my hospital bed after the surgery dreaming about walking. It feels good to be able to get out there and walk and feel good while I am doing it. I am so thankful for every morning that I wake up to greet another day. I truly am blessed to have been given this second chance at life. Not everybody gets that chance.
I never realized before my heart attack and surgery how badly I really felt but I feel so much better now. I have so much energy. My life is so good and I am so happy to still be here to make many more wonderful memories. I am really looking forward to camping season this year since I missed out on summer last year. Everything that I do is so special to me and I treasure each and every moment.
Please take care of your health and your hearts. Doing what you can to stay healthy is so important and so worth it.

I didn't realize that it has been that long, but I remember it was last June. I am so glad that you came thru this, and I know that you still have rough days, but you are a trooper and you are setting such a wonderful example, leading the way for so many of us.

@Happy2BeMe I was actually just thinking of that as I read a post that someone complained that they had chest pain today. And naturally I thought of you. She's really a well-read member, so I'm hoping that she is familiar with your background and takes the pain seriously, which I'm sure she will.

I'm waiting for nice weather and to heal a bit more and then start walking, slowly at first. Used to walk a lot but then when I got sick and had health problems it became less and less until it was just walking around the yard. You inspire me, I do have heart problems but they say it is nothing to really worry about. Hope they are right!!

I am sure they are. Walking is great exercise. You have to start slow at first but every little bit is a step in the right direction.

Wow time passed by quickly. Health is important and sometimes we take it for granted. I’m trying to go to the gym at least 5x a week. I’m glad everything is going well for you, keep it up
