I promised some pictures and here comes round one! One of the attractions my family visited on our vacation was the Christ in the Smokies Museum & Gardens! I was a little disappointed in the "guided tour". I had thought it was a person that walks you through some of the sights and things. It wasn't. It was a computer based guided tour of wax figures. The scenes were very nice. My kids enjoyed it much more than I thought they would. My favorite place was the prayer garden. It was just very beautiful and quiet. I wish there were more places like this around and about! Have you ever planned something for your kids because you thought it was a good learning experience for them, only to really have your kids totally surprise you and teach you more than you seem to have been trying to teach them???

I went there back in the days when it was called "Christus Gardens."

@Daelii -- I haven't been in it recently (just walked past it while I walk by the creek).

@FourWalls oh! You might want to! I was really inspired by the garden and hope to add some elements to my home garden!

That is so neat! Has it changed much? I really, really loved the garden area.

I still learn lessons from my kids, even as a grandma:) I'm glad you and your family had a good time!

I am planning to bring my little niece to visit a museum. It is a good way for her to learn something while exploring the place.

There are so many out there and many have been making kid friendly spits so children really can touch, see, and experience bits of the past!

We've been surprised sometimes by what the kids have enjoyed.

@Daelii I think parents sometimes forget how scary big (to kids) noisy things can be - same with some animals. A first meeting with any of the larger domestic animals could be quite intimidating to a child.

@JudyEv I sure did forget! Well I didn't even think about the noise aspect! The other garden is spread over a mountain and just sounds lovely! I do hope to go sometime .

On the trip I thought they would really enjoy this Eden garden (lots of birds)... but before we could go, the kids got to see some parrots up close at a different place. The loud sounds scared them. So I crossed that garden off our list for now! If 6 birds scared them, seeing a ton of them might be too much! Maybe next year....

You just can't ask questions to a computer and if you wanted to sit a moment longer to look there was no time! You'd miss the next part
