I also obeyed my parents when I was still in younger age, they want me to study criminology course which is I don't really like and I don't have interest at all, but now I have all the right to make decisions on my own.

When I was younger, I do obey my parents but to a certain extent. As long as I still have the freedom to choose some stuff, we have no problem.

@Berrygal I guess you will have to put up yourself with what they want. But have you tried talking to them about this?

I just think that a parent should let their young ones choose what they have passion for but you should also be realistic

In my personal opinion, while it is a human value to "honor thy parents", there comes a time when we must make our own decisions. Parents who do not support their children in their decisions or accept the decisions their children make are controlling and only wish to flaunt their power over the child. If it gets to a point where the child's chosen path is being inhibited, it may be time to break ties with the parents. This is what I had to do. :-)
