Hello everyone.
Most of us know the expression of pay it forward.
I never thought of this and wonder what is the full meaning of this.
This is an expression describing the beneficiary of good deed.
The concept is old but we are doing this.
Pay it forward doing something nice for people.
Simple things.Hold the door open the person behind you.
How can you pay it forward.
I am sure most of us here know this.
What have you done pay it forward ?

I remember seeing a movie with that name some years back.
I try to do kind things when I see a need. When kids come to my door selling chocolates, I alway buy one and then give them the chocolate as I have to watch my diet.

I think the idea of paying it forward is a bit different as people share what they have done to promote awareness I guess. To me I don’t write about it when I do something nice for someone else as I feel like it’s asking for a pat on the back.

@andriaperry that's what I think the idea behind it is that it will catch on and spread kindness is why people tell about what they do. I just feel like I want to do things without needing to tell others. It would be pretty boring if I told how I left a quarter in the Aldi's cart as a pay it forward

What is wrong with patting yourself on the back sometimes? Plus I think when you let others know you do good its contagious.

It means everyone sends me 5 bucks in the mail, better make it 10 just in case. This is called paying in forward. I make bad jokes.

Yes, it means doing a nice thing for someone when you don't have to do it, you just want to do it to brighten someone's day.

Paying forward, means to me, being good to others, old and young, now so when I get old people will be good to me. I give my time when I can so one day someone will make time for me. I give rides to town free so one day I can get a free ride into town.
At times I am selfish but I try to give to others that are in need, food and clothes.
I try my best not to hold grudges, and to just let bad things go that people do to me, Let God handle those and the dirty deed.
Each day I am nice to someone I can feel God blessing me.
It makes the soul feel free.

The idea came from a book or movie, didn't it? I think it means that if I find myself to be the recipient of a good deed or blessing, then I also do a random act of kindness for someone else... or at least that's how I've known it to be practiced.

It's a great expression and concept. Sometimes I put extra coins into the parking meter - hope someone else will get some use of it. Or some little thing I can help with

@amadeo In my town - we still have those coin operated meters in some places. But a lot have those "pay station" devices which I don't like

Paying it forward for me is forwarding kindness to the people around us because every good deed goes a long way. Well, I remember helping a cute little boy to get down because he is having a hard time getting down from the wall. I was on my way to my student's house and this boy does not know what to do. So I offered my hand and told him that I will assist him. And though he did not thank me, I saw the smile on his face and yes he was shy.

Pay it forward means when you are in difficult situation and somebody comes to your aid, you don't have to feel indebted to the one who helped you, instead, it becomes your duty to help three others in dire situations. It is the ripple effect concept popularized by a tragic movie decades back.
As for my self, I was indebted to my own mother who financially supported me while my own daughters were growing up. By way of paying it forward, I feed strangers, or assist the elderly, come to aid of a friend or family, and never ask for a payback.
I like this post very much.

When someone helps you and you can't pay them back, they expect you to pay it forward.
Say someone pays part of your grocery money so you don't have to put things back. You can help someone else to pay it forward. Maybe you could buy an old lady a cup of coffee or help someone with a flat tire.
It means passing kindness along. It does not have to be in the same way you received it.

I like doing nice things for people and being able to pay it forward when someone has been nice to me is a very good feeling.
