To some extent I did. I no longer have dogs--I am old enough now that I would die before a dog would and that's not fair to him/her--but when I did I treated them as friends, not infants. After all, they were my pack (in their way of thinking) and I was their alpha!

What did U do? Did they get icecream or cookies or go to a show like the circus?

@db20747 Oh no, nothing like that. I gave them the last bite of anything I was eating that wasn't bad for them and they got to lick the plates. They were allowed to sleep in my bed. I had a house with a doggie door so they could come and go as they pleased. They got bully sticks to chew on, which they loved, and we played with their toys quite a bit. They loved it when a package would come because it usually had a new dog toy or treat inside! They were allowed on the furniture and had access to every room in the house. They were very spoiled compared to other dogs I knew!

I pamper her, but not to the point of humiliation. I don't dress her up in "cute" little costumes then slather her embarrassed face all over the internet. To me that's no less of a crime than animal cruelty. I do buy her treats and toys though. :-)

AAAAWWWW, I bet she would be well liked by your friends on the internet. Pets dressed up like for tea parties really make people's day!!! Does she get a glass of champagne for New Years????

@db20747 I don't get one for myself! :-P She's content with just her water and catnip. :-)

Our pups are spoiled but not pampered. They certainly wouldn't stand for being dressed up and/or fussing in general.

Yeah, some dogs just take the hats and scarf right off or keep pulling at the sweater!!! or even find a way to chew it off!!!

@db20747 Danna, I wanted to dress up my pets at certain times but most of the time they wanted no part of it. My cat I have now when she wants attention from me she will come to me. For special occasions I will give her treats with her food on her plate.

No he gets a haircut as his coat is the type that grows rather than shed so it has to get clipped. I don't dress him up or treat him like a fashion accessory. No birthday parties or posh meals but I do buy him dog toys regularly.
