How Was Your First Experience with cooking?

I think first experience is always a special one and most of us remember that for a long time. Well I tried my hand on making the lentils or the DAL a bit more spicy and it's called 'Tadka' here and in that I added cumin and coriander seeds as I like them but they were burnt lol out of share ignorance. But I'm trying to do better. What about you? How was your first experience with cooking? Please share.

My first experience with cooking was when I was a child of about 10. Both of my parents worked during the day, so I took it upon myself one day to have dinner prepared for my family when my parents arrived home from work so my mom wouldn't have to do it. I cooked ground beef, potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy for the meat. My parents appreciated the gesture and designated me the house cook on days when they both were at work. :-)

Thats nice that your first experience was special. My earliest memories of cooking was always helping my father make some things. I usually chopped the veggies and picked the spices :)

When I was about 11 I made an apple pie while my mam and sister were out, I thought I knew better than the recipe and I was impatient so I took it out of the oven way too early and the bottom half was completely raw Thankfully I can cook now

My Mom taught me as youngster some cooking tips. The first thing she taught me to cook was poached eggs on toast.

I can't remember what I cooked first. I used to help with making cakes - mainly by scraping out the bowl and eating the leftover mixture.

This made me remembered something when i was in grade school.my mom instructed me to cook a tuna "sinigang" (sour). i was excited to pile the tuna in the clay pot, poured vinegar and all other ingredients. When it boiled. I was so excited to see and taste my first dish. My mother opened the pot and exclaimed in disbelief! We got a blue tuna! Little did I know that my sister used the pot in dyeing her shirt and forgot to wash it. Haha no lunch!!!

I really cannot remember now my first cooking experience. I do by the book. I usually cook food that my grandmother cannot cook. Because if she can cook it, then might as well let her cook the food otherwise face the criticism. lol But I started baking at around 13-15 years old.
