People are always of the views that if one relationship doesn't work out we can find another and start dating right?then I don't think having more friends at a time is wrong,it merely not putting one's egg in a basket in case its crashes. It just like letting it go and believing one of the others will stay. What do you think?

My understanding of this saying is that you shouldn't put all of your hopes and expectations into only one thing. For example; If you wish to move to another house or apartment and have already viewed one, look at others also. This way you are not limiting yourself to only that apartment. Chances could be that you might not get it. By viewing more than one, you are giving yourself a choice.

Some people also apply it in their emotional lives so as to avoid heart breaks and disappointment by dates.

Will you not have a time to heal when you have ended a relationship? We dont rush things just because things didnt work out right.

I donĀ“t think that the saying applies to human relations. If you want love, you must do all you can. And I mean it in friendships and in any sort of relationship.

This saying is more about money. I should have more than one type of investment in case one doesn't do well. It is not about cheating on a spouse.

@Berrygal I think one should have many eggs in many baskets so they will not get hurt if things do not work out.

I feel that this is a complex yet true statement. Everyone has their struggles that they go through in a relationship regardless if it is romantic, parental or a straight friendship. You are right that having more than one friend is not wrong, That is because everyone is mutual in that agreement. When you are in a romantic relationship you should be committed to that person and willing to work with he/she to build a stronger bond.

We all need all the friendships we can get. If we find true love, it is a bonus.

I habe tried having back up plans for all my but I still got hurt and all so I don't think this applies to relationships . A deep connection cannot be lessened by having multiple connections. The proverb does not apply in this case.
