Sometimes It Is Hard Not to Laugh at Your Kids!

I'm sure we all have stories of times when our children were upset by something, but we had trouble not laughing. Here is one of my favorite stories: One of our goldfish died and our two young daughters decided to bury the fish in our flower garden. They took the fish out into the backyard, dug a tiny grave, and one of the girls held the fish in the palm of her hands while they said a little prayer over it. A few seconds later, they came running into the house crying. Right in the middle of their funeral for the goldfish, our dog ran up and ate the fish off the palm of our daughter's hand! They were both crying and it was soooo hard for me not to laugh! I had to assure them that I was certain the fish still got to go to heaven! I'd love to hear any funny stories you have with your children or grandchildren!

One day when I picked my daughter up from school I asked how was your day. Her reply I'm not talking about it. When we got home she ran into my bedroom and trough herself on the bed and started to cry. I asked what was wrong. She had got her card turned to yellow that day. I asked her what she had done. Well while at lunch a kid had dropped their roll on the floor and she decided to kick it across the lunch room. Trying not to laugh I asked if she and learned a lesson and was she going to do that again. Her response was that she learned her lesson, but it sure was fun.

@tso1960 - Ha ha! I'm sure we are all tempted to do something like that once in a while! There's a little mischief in all of us.

when my daughter here was little, we had a goat that got into a lot of mischief with her carrying things in the yard to watch him chew on them. her step dad was old country and used to say if it didn't stop he would kill the goat and we would have it for supper. sadly we had a dog that got mange so bad the vet could not cure it and we couldn't afford to have him put down so husband said he would shoot it to get it out of misery. my daughter screamed "you might kill it but I won't eat it" sad but funny too.been a long years ago and now we laugh about it

@bunnybon7 - It was sad, but funny! It's healthy that you can all laugh at it now!

@dodo19 - I really struggled to keep a straight face until they were calmed down, but my husband and I had a good laugh later, when we were alone!

@DeborahDiane I’ll bet you had a good laugh. I’d probably laugh about it later.

@dodo19 - That's what I did. When I told my husband about it later, we both had a good laugh!

That is truly hilarious. I laughed out loud reading it, so don't think I could have held it in if I were in your shoes. Our older son began speaking at a very early age, but had difficulty saying some words. We were driving home from dinner out, when he pointed to the sky and said, "Look! It's twiwinkle!" My husband and I were pretty sure he meant to say twilight. He was known to say orndaments for ornaments, airbean for airplane, and dogeye for doggie. We still tease him about those words.

@DianneN - Oh, yes. I don't think our children have ever forgotten a mistake we have made in the past ... and they love reminding us!

I have no kids of my own yet. But I do remember my niece dancing everytime we ask her to when she was a little girl. She would dance until she got tired hahaha she is a cute little girl that she can draw a crowd.

That is hilarious! When I was toilet training my daughter I put her on the toilet and told her she couldnt get off of it until I see something in it. She cried and cried. When she stopped crying I went to check on her progress. She had cried herself to sleep on the toilet and fell in!

@DeborahDiane I wish I could have captured it on camera or film. It would be a treasured memory...although not so much for my daughter.

Those poor children. I bet that dog got in trouble from your daughters. Once when we had a puppy my son and daughter said they would take care of the puppy. My daughter called me up crying because the puppy peed on the kitchen floor and she had wiped up her half and her brother wold not wipe up his half and it kept going into what she cleaned up. I was laughting because I could see her doing that. I told her get the mop and mop it up and I will bring a treat home just for you.

@jstory07 - That's funny! I could see our daughters doing the same thing ... only cleaning half and expecting the other one to clean the other half. I think you handled it well.

@LadyDuck - Yes, even our daughters can see the funny side of things now that they are adults and have children of their own. It has changed their perspective.

@LadyDuck - I agree. I think I would have cried, too, which is why I was able to be sympathetic (at least temporarily!) LOL

I am sure that was upsetting for them but I would have been laughing too. Did they make up with the dog later?

@wolfgirl569 - Oh, yes. They loved the dog. I think they were in shock when it happened, but they got over it. LOL

@JudyEv - I'm sure our dog thought the fish was a tasty little snack they were holding out for her! It was so funny, but I couldn't laugh until the girls got over their shock! LOL
