Three years after gallbladder is out...

It's been three years already after I had my gallbladder out through open chole. The experience was something I'd never want to go through again. The injecting of spinal anesthesia was painful, then difficulty breathing before blacking out, etc. I was trembling so much with cold when I woke up after the operation even though I was covered with blanket, and the recovery process was slow and painful, but through it all I was grateful that everything went fine by God's grace. Now, after three years, I have to watch what I eat to avoid having an upset stomach. But foods are tempting sometimes! BM has changed and my stomach easily gets upset. But overall, I'm feeling great, thank God! So I hope everyone takes care of their well being because these days there are many diseases that a person can easily have. The stress we get from our everyday life and the kinds of foods we eat, I guess, are ones of the main reasons why we get sick. Has anyone gone through gallbladder removal or any surgery/operation? How was it? I know it was not easy but I wish you are feeling better each day.

I had the same surgery 8 years ago. It was a tough recovery but now I can eat whatever I want without worrying about a gallbladder attack. It’s great.

@NJChicaa It's good to know, but for me, I still have problems with it once in a while.

How's the bowel movement? Is it the same as before the surgery?

Thank you. I am careful with my diet unless someone tempts me with unhealthy foods, so I try hard not to be tempted.

Glad to know that you are out of all troubles at present. Please have a watch on your diet, even if you feel temptation. Please avoid the food, that should be avoided. It is not good to be in hospital. Take care.

I have not but it does sound like an incredibly painful process.

Good for you, keep it that way. It truly was a painful process. That's why my heart goes out to mothers who went through the caesarian procedure when giving birth, sometimes not just once but thrice, and of course to those who have gone through several surgeries.

That's big! I hope she's adjusted well now to not having a gallbladder and is doing okay.

I've had three major surgeries and one minor surgery that I can remember. My first surgery was brain surgery. I was 29 yrs old. A part of my right temporal lobe was removed as an alternative treatment for epilepsy. My second surgery was a minor surgery. I had my fallopian tubes tied. My third surgery was a complete hysterectomy and my fourth, like you, was a gallbladder removal.
