Are you happy with your writing skills?

I am fairly happy although sometimes I feel I could do better. I'm a very average writer and although I feel confident enough when it comes to writing small blogs or participating on forums I would probably never do more than that. I think some people here are very accomplished writers, I can see the words flow so easily and they can capture their audience in the first few lines of what they write. Ar you confident when it comes to writing?

No, I am not, but I almost never like what I write, even in my own native language.

Of late, I feel I tend to drag my sentences, making them longer and longer. Even if I don't, I feel the link is not being established clearly. Earlier, I used to have in my mind five points, point one, three sentences, last sentence has something that open grounds for the next point and so on.. but now i feel I am clubbing the points and in the process becoming repetitive. :( While language has improved, clarity of expression has taken a beating.

@vandana7 That probably comes from being on the site a long time. It's quite difficult to write perfectly all the time, to keep the interest alive. I think we become sloppier over time.

Some people here give me inferiority complex and this is a confession. When I go to their posts, their language makes me feel I have a long way to go, and at times, I feel like giving up. But believe me, I feel I have improved after coming to myLot. When I do content writing, it is mostly subject related, so it is not so crucial.

You shouldn't feel like that vanny as your writing skills are fine but I know what you mean. Some people just add that something special to their posts. I don't think I can ever match that.

@Jotomy Target Gary Marsh, Maluse in so far as language is concerned. Target pgntwo and Anna in so far as knowledge. Target DE, JJ, Pony and many others in so far as humor is concerned. Nice mix eh? Long way to go...though. LOL

Lately, I am not confident in my writing skill. ESpecially, the most recent post, because it was written just to let my friends here why I am barely here already. Though, I am happy with my writing skill. Not because I am so good at writing a post, but because it gets a fair number of comments and sometimes one comment gets to be a number of exchange of comments.

I think even the most apparently accomplished writers have some self-doubt and believe there are things about their writing which could be improved. Don't underestimate yourself. If you want to write a novel or a screenplay, go for it. What many people fail to understand is that some of the most well-known writers would probably be nowhere without a good editor!!!

@sprite1950 English is one of my first languages. So, I probably should be better. But considering I spoke two languages growing up can be a challenge, but I still probably should be a little better. I do find that your writing here is really good. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Perfect can be overrated.

@dodo19 I would love to be bilingual. Apparently the best time to learn another language is in the first 10 years of life as we are geared to learn them during those years. I don't have any excuse to be bad but having said that some English people write appallingly as can be seen from facebook!

Actually, I'm very confident when it comes to writing. Not because I'm so skilled, but instead, I'm speaking just exactly what's on my mind, at the moment. I'm not good at socializing with other people but online, it comes very easy for me! Noone can bite me, if I'm here and they're somewhere else! LOL

Exactly how I feel. I probably couldn't talk to most of the people on here face to face, but I have no problem talking to them online. I don't like small talk and I hardly ever start conversations with people I don't know. Online I feel like a social butterfly!!

When I am writing a script or a story, I am an entirely different person. I adore writing scripts, I think I am actually fairly good at them. As for a writer on here, or a blog poster, I am complete garbage. I will never be good at it. I have taken classes and practices and I don't know how to not make constant jokes and well sounds selfish but my point of view of things haha

Even though I often write around 500 to 900 words in my articles, it does not mean I am happy and satisfied already with my writing skills. I want to enhance it. That is the reason I keep on reading to improve my vocabulary. I hope that in time, there will be a big change in my word usage.

@sprite1950 Snowdrop66, I write from the heart but the writing is not always good. When I wrote one book I went to someone to teach me how to write it and had to correct my writing so I decided that was the one and only time I would write a book. It was too expensive and did not sell much.
