When it comes to home projects are you all in or do you hire someone? If yes, what kinds of projects/repairs have you done on your own? What home repairs/projects will you call in the professionals? Photo- VeryHom/google images

The only things we don't do ourselves are those that are not within our area of expertise and even some of those we attempt! Our latest is installing some flat pack wardrobes.

I usually hire someone to take care of the damages on the air conditioner since I am not an expert on working with water heaters and air conditioners.

@caopaopao Let the pros handle the huge work since they were trained to do it.

Anything complicated is a job for the pros. Although I wish I had more of an aptitude for doing my own repairs.

I used to do a lot of things, including upholstering my furniture. Now I cannot do much and ask for help from professionals.

@Daelii We can do many things when we are young. Not many as we get old

Wow, upholstering furniture. That sounds difficult? My parents had my uncle do upholstering for them, but he worked for a furniture company and is like a professional.

If I bought some items that need to be assembled, the company will provide a person to do it.

@dgobucks226 If it is not included in company's services, I will try to find someone to do it for me.

There are things I do myself (like painting ceilings and the walls), but I hire professional if it's something involving electricity and water. This is the law.

@dgobucks226 I can change a fuse, no problem with this, but for more serious electric jobs I call a professional.

@LadyDuck I understand. You don't want to fool around with things electrical.

Yes very true although I did replace a fuse. We had a pipe leak I had to get a plumber out to repair. I am pretty decent at painting and spackling. My one saving grace

Usually try to fix it ourselves! Hubby can do a lot of building and plumbing things and some electrical work. I can do painting and follow directions and get him drinks!

@dgobucks226 Lol! I'm not very skilled with power tools but its very easy to get a drink! I did however do all cuts/ measurement for installing flooring in my kids bedroom, dinning room, living room etc!

@Daelii Well, that's pretty impressive! I would probably either measure incorrectly or not cut the flooring accurately. Too much pressure

I DYI most of the time from unclogging sinks, painting jobs, decorating and clothes repair.I think you can save a lot doing on your own rather than hiring professionals.Furthermore, you will be satisfied by the result if you are doing it personally. It is still better to ask professionals to do the job for the things you have little to no knowledge.

Excellent response @kareemadivina! And so very true about saving money doing it yourself. I will attempt some repairs on my own. If I have difficulty I have relied on friends. And yes, doing it yourself is very rewarding

It is very rare as I would rather spend the time to earn more money. I will rather outsource

Both my husband and I are useless at that sort of thing. Fortunately we have a lovely son who does a lot of it for us, otherwise we get professionals.

I try to do whatever I can by myself because I am cheap. But it depends on the project of course. Having a bit more money these days I am slightly more inclined to just hire someone.
