Green Bay Shut Down

My son surprised me this morning by showing up at 10 AM and taking me to his apartment to do laundry. I just got home. I didn't think to take my camera with me, as the storm results are phenomenal. It was almost a white out on the way to his apartment, and as we passed Lambeau Field, you would think we were in a heavy fog. No fog, snow.
While I was there, you couldn't see anything out the windows. It was a complete white out. I just checked the totals, and nothing confirmed, but we have smashed a couple records, one being set in January of 1888 for 23.1 inches of snow, so we have at least that much on the ground or will have by the time this storm is completed by noon tomorrow.
That said, I haven't ever seen a city completely shut down due to snow or a blizzard, as happened with this storm. I worried about my son going to work yesterday. No worries, they called off work. Even McDonald's has been closed for two days. The whole city is basically shut down. It looked strange to drive past businesses normally open at this time of day to find them closed and the parking lots almost empty. There were cars, but they were there because they got stuck by the snow.
Even the roads haven't been completely plowed yet. It's hard to keep up the plowing with this storm.
Am I happy? Yes. I finally have my blizzard. Though from what my son said, our water tables are still low.
I took pictures as you can see as soon as I got home. They will be plowing the parking lot tomorrow, so I will be going to the library tomorrow while they do. The picture on the bottom right is my office window. There are no storm windows on the windows here, so the snow came right through the screen and gave it a 3D look on the glass. I don't know if you can tell that or not with the picture.
So that's what's happening here, and now I don't need to worry about getting my laundry done. Though being gone all day, I do need to eat, so I'll be doing that while I get the notifications finished.
How was your day? Thanks for reading.

Oh I so hope that we don't get hammered with another storm. It is cold here tonight and I feel it could snow. Not happy with that fact either.
We don't close much here during a storm. They run on a skeleton crew if necessary. The schools will close, events cancelled, etc.

@just4him When we had the hurricane come through with torrential rains and flooding, many businesses closed.

Wow!! Thank goodness it is not Football season, but in April? I grew up in IL and by April it was always nice. Makes me glad I am not there.
Was a Great day today. Went to church and it was an awesome service, and now here relaxing after eating some dinner and posting away.

The good thing about today, is I know it is Monday. I hope I know what day it is tomorrow when I resume my normal life with the pool at 5 AM.

It has been so long since we have seen real honest to goodness snowfall that I am beginning to wonder, will we see snow in the future? Those photos say it better than words could. If it snows here next winter I will take photos of it to share also.

In the top right picture you can just make out footprints in the snow. Those were made by my son and me bringing my laundry in from his car. Otherwise the snow was untouched.
It should be interesting to see snow in Dallas.

Oh lordy, that reminds me way too much of Nebraska @just4him . You make sure you keep that 'stuff' up there and don't send it down here to Texas.......or we're gonna have a serious talk.

I'm sure he got home safe. He kept exclaiming on how glad he was to have new tires on the van.
I know you want. You might need to wait until next year now, unless you get in on some snow from this storm, though I don't think it's tracking that far south.

@Courtlynn I know. I saw one of the maintenance men just now when I went out to clean off the car and dig it out. He asked if I was responsible for this blizzard. I told him Of course! I've been praying for this for years. Now, to get the car dug out.

Nothing like a snowy day. Here, it rained all day, and it was very cold out.

I was in Green Bay on business on Wednesday, so I dodged the bullet on that one. Leaving Mauston on Friday I did run into a little bit of yucky weather, but by the time I got closer to Illinois it was all cleared up. Being a former Wisconsinite, though, I definitely know what you are up against up there,

The weather has really been something this year. My parents in Ere. PA had like 200 inches of snow this winter..which was record breaking I believe. I think they may be haing freezing rain now...terrible for this time of year.

The city is slowly coming alive again. The schools are still closed today, and the county offices are too. I haven't seen the city bus go past yet, so that might not be running yet, but might later as the streets are cleared. Yes, I will need to drive there in a couple hours. It should be interesting getting out of the parking lot, though I do expect the streets will be good by then. Traffic is starting to pick up.
