I understand that we have preferences. Others love pasta, bread or vegetable But i guess most of us here can't live without rice, what's in yours

Here it would have to be potatoes. Though I rarely eat them myself.

I'm not sure if Canada has a staple food except maybe potatoes. Potatoes are abundant here and there are so many ways to prepare them.

I'm Filipino as well so it is rice for me also. Good thing though that I'm used to not having rice in all of my meals. I either just have a viand with some fruits or I have oatmeal or a protein shake as a meal.

@chavezrmc If you can, just limit your rice to half a cup and then gradually take it out of your meals. You'll soon get used to it.

You are wrong, this is true for your country, not for Europeans and Americans, our staple food is bread or potatoes not rice.

@LAdyDuck, that i have learned from this discussion. I never heard about potatoes being the staple food of a country. Is it the same with a sweet potato? Well i understand that Americans have bread, and other countries have pasta.

We change it up rice, potatoes, or pasta. But if I had to choose one, it would be potato.

I am from India and in India most of the states they have rice as their staple food, in other states they prefer to have wheat as their staple food but they also have rice in their meals! Personally I like rice and that is staple food though we have wheat in between! Thanks @chavezrmc!

Well here in America it depends on what part of the country you are from. My husband doesn't think a meal is complete without beans. He was raised in Texas. While I grew up eating potatoes, but I also like pasta.
