I think they cheat because they are just unhappy. Most guys find their wife more attractive than the woman they cheat with.

Some people should just never get married. They are not really marrying material, but because society still says to be truly successful, one needs to marry. So many people still follow that philosophy.

What I would say is that people are not willing to put the work and romance into the relationship they have, but may work twice as hard for something outside, thinking they are finding something new and different. Relationships are hard and it takes both people working to keep them, instead of grinding down the fun and forgetting the passion they had in the past.

They cheat because they are selfish and are thinking only about themselves.

Life gets boring, to much routine in the relationship. But for the most part they are not happy with their mate.

It is probably the same reason they lie....because they can.....because they can get away with it. After they keep doing something like that....I lose respect for them. I know of a woman who lies all the time...to protect herself from the reality of who she really is.

Both men and women cheat simply because they chose to do so. Why? they have decided not to love the person they are with. If a person chose to love the person they are with, no matter what the circumstances are, they would not cheat in the first place. Love is a decision.

For me, because it's a human nature for people to evolve. Change is really happening to everyone and those who are equipped enough to manage such change are those who have a happy and long lasting relationship.

Men and women cheat on their spouses. I have heard of people being married for forty years or more and they get a divorce. It really makes no sense.

The cheating is a result of those people, not putting their marriage partner, second to God. The Bible states clearly, that he should always be our first priority and our spouse should always come second. Many couples don't realize how important this is, God ordained marriage is a holy covenant, that's not easily broken! While mankind throws marriage around, as if it's a big joke:( It's suppose to be a commitment, not a convenience!

I actually wrote a paper on cheating for a class once.
The research I did suggested that - as a couple is together longer and longer - sometimes they come to associate the partner with stress. (Arguing over bills, over the kids, over what to do on the weekends, whatever applies to them) - so along comes someone new, and there is no association of stress with the new person....
