Arranged marriage or love marriage

Whats more common in your country. Love marriage or an arranged one. What do you prefer. I have had a love marriage. My son is now almost 29 and relatives and friends keep advising me to find a proposal for him. I would like him to make his own choice unless he tells me to find someone for him.

I prefer love marriage because it is not forced and you are given the opportunity to choose to be with the person you love.

Unfortunately not all parents allow their children to have a love marriage. I had to go against my parents wish. I dont want to force my son to do something against his wish.

@mayka123 That is true. Someone told me about that. She is fixed to marry someone in a few days. But I am glad you were able to fight for the love that you deserve. Your son is lucky to have you as his mother.

@mlgen1037 I have always given my children the freedom to make their own decisions,I only interfere when I feel that they are making some wrong decisions.

Giving that freedom of making choice is good ,let him chose the one , because he have to live lifelong with her.

Yes, we need that freedom. Why give it to someone else?

A love marriage is always the best I think. He will find someone when he least expects it.

@MsBooklover I would hope so also and without love of some form it might not work out well unless they both work together on the marriage itself.

We do not have arranged marriages here. People marry the person they love.

@LadyDuck Both love marriages and arranged ones have their share of divorces.

@MsBooklover There are enough divorces marrying someone you love, imagine if the marriages were arranged.

I think it is best for people to fall in love not to have someone tell them to love someone.

It must be wonderful to have someone tell you they love you and actually mean it.

i think love marriage is the best because both knows each other from ling time so they can dare to live life time with each other.but to marry totally unknown person is quite difficult to trust and survey says that divorce rate is high in arrange marriage.

Unfortunately nowadays divorce rate is high both in love marriages as well as arranged marriages. But I prefer kids making their own choices.

Yes, there are too many things you don't know when you marry someone who is basically a stranger.

Here, we marry for love, hopefully. lol I'm sure, given time, your son will find his own love. 29 is still young in this day and age.

It is better your son finds his partner by himself. That way he owns up to his decisions - siva

I have known people with an arranged marriage. There is too much that is out of your control when you do that. Marriage is hard enough when you do know someone.

Both ways marriage is hard. But its easier to accept things when the decision is your own.
