Do You Research Before You Buy, Travel or Make Something?

I do. I remember the days of buying something with certain thoughts in mind and you get it home and you are like "OH! I did not know this!" then I would be stuck with it, just deal with whatever surprise that came, felt defeated. Nowadays if I have a thought about something I look it up, that`s right! I walk into the office (home office) and I read and read and check more than one keyword. Its amazing! if I need to save it for later reference I do, sometimes I will print so I can use this information out in the field. (away from a computer) For me its learning the name of the parts, its not really called a thingymado, or a whatchamacallit. Although I am not a youngster I learn all the time, its like my brain is a sponge and I enjoy soaking up information. So do you research first?

Yes, especially now that there is an internet that has so much information in it. I still make mistakes but that's really a good thing because I learn from them and hopefully I won't make the same mistake over again, next time it will be a different mistake I'll need to learn from.

I do a lot of research on DIY things, ideas for storage, recipes, herbals, well basically anything that comes my way that catches my eye. Which is why I get sidetracked so much. I swear I have ADD now. lol

I research everything, even if it is to only save a few dollars. Besides groceries, I do most of my shopping online, so I am always searching for the best deal. And if it's something I want right away, I'll often go to a local retailer and show them the low price I found online and ask them to match or beat it. Never once has a local retailer denied my request for a price match. I think brick and mortar stores know their days are limited, so they will do anything they can to drive a sale in their building, instead of having a customer purchase it online.

@andriaperry There will always be a place for stores. There are many people who like to "kick the tires" of a product (touch it, feel it) before buying. And there are many products that people need to buy right away, instead of waiting for it to be delivered. And, like you said, there are always going to be people who are adverse to technology. We'll see a major shift in our economy, but brick and mortar stores will never go away completely. Those that adapt with the times will survive, and those that try to hang on to the old way of doing business will go extinct.

Oh me too. Do you think that one day there will be no stores? What about the people who do not know how to shop online?

@andriaperry yes. I'm trying to get as many vitamins and minerals from natural foods as I can. I hate taking supplements in pill form.

I read a lot before buying anything. Even just the ingredients on the skin care I have, I need to find out what they really are before deciding to buy them. I don't rely much on reviews since most are paid and there are people who don't give their honest opinion about the product.

I'm glad you've learned, the best way is to first do all kinds of research. Like you, I'd just buy something and hope for the best! Now, it's different. I want to know every tiny little detail about something, before I make a final decision of any sort. And I love learning new things, also.

I definitely research a lot before traveling -- hotels, restaurants in the area, things to see in the area, and how to best afford it all. Currently I'm trying to see how insane it would be to take everyone camping near Yosemite.
