My mommy says the 'F' word

So we are at the dinner table with some friends of my husband's and my son is really tucking in when one of the wives slaps her forehead and mutters "Oh crap!" My little baby looks up at her (by the way he is neither a baby, nor a toddler), he swallows and says, "My mommy says the F word." I swear there was not a sound at the table for a full minute. The lady actually appeared to choke for a bit. I wanted to die. I felt like my parenting skills had just been downgraded from D to a complete Fail. But then there was some awkward laughter and one of the ladies nudged me and said, "I'm sure every parent curses." Thing is, I don't use expletives in front of my kids. We have an extensive list of words classified as bad and unmentionable and the 'F' word is practically at the top of that list! My son is still in pre-k though, and every bad word is the F word in his book. To him, crap was the F word and he wanted the lady to know that she had company. I really don't think that was her takeaway though... But... kids can really put you in the hot seat, can't they? Have you ever had any embarrassing moments with your kids, siblings or just little children you might know?

Yes when my daughter was four years old, we were in church and my daughter said jackass in front of the priest. I looked up and asked where did you learn that even though I knew, she said dad. I was hoping that it would teach him a lesson, but it didn't.

@tso1960 this is hilarious! One really has to be ultra careful what you say or do in front of your kids. I'm sure my mom would have said the same thing about me when I was a kid.

Oh dear, a sort of 'My mommy's ruder than your mommy' contest!

He obviously had his ears opened when you thought his eyes were closed! Don't feel bad. Every parent has their moment. I always asked my daughter if she had to pee or poo before leaving the house. She always said "No mommy". We would just get on the bus and my daughter would tug at my sleeve. "I need to poo mommy." And she did! Right there on the bus, in front of everyone, she would let it rip. It would slide down her leg and all over the bus floor! Talk about an "Oh Crap"! moment.

I swear kids are adorable. I won't trade mine for the world, but they keep you on your toes too! Sometimes they make you wish you could disappear
