Sometimes I just watch the birds...

The geese, ducks, swans, seagulls, sparrows, pigeons, it doesn't matter...I love watching and observing birds (all animals actually). I spent an hour or so yesterday watching the Canada geese on Lake Ontario. Since I got back to Canada, I am enjoying just sitting by the lake even though it's still chilly. I even saw a loon, which is a pretty rare bird to see usually.

I enjoy bird watching at my home and in Florida. There is lots of activity now, since they are building their nests and laying eggs. I visited Lake Ontario with my husband. The rocky beach and lake hurt and froze my tootsies! Ouch and brrr! lol

Your poor wee tootsies. But it must have been nice watching the geese.

Before in one place where I lived there was a small lake from before and I used to love to watch the wild ducks suddenly take off out of the water and fly in formation in the sky and go towards a river further north and then come back again. They made a right racket but were wonderful to see and then there was a pair of Swans and the male would suddenly take off out of the water like a Concorde very powerful never seen the likes of it before and I was not able to film him or anything but you should have seen him.

They do make lots of noise but they are lovely to watch nonetheless. I always wonder what makes the ducks suddenly fly away in a hurry.

@tzwrites Have no idea but they go up in a beautiful formation and about twenty minutes later they are back again and squabbling with each other as if to make a lot of noise and get noticed I suppose.

I prefer animals to birds, but I like watching both. Are you Canadian?

I'd have to agree with you but I do like to watch the larger birds like swans, geese, eagles and such.

I waste hours watching our kangaroos. Their behaviour fascinates me. Same with herds of horses, cows, anything really. The dynamics of different animals living together are really interesting.

True, that must be entertaining. Unfortunately we don't have kangaroos here but I'm sure I would enjoy watching them too.

Bird watching does have it's rewards. At this time of year it's best to keep your distance until the young'uns leave the nest.

That's true, I try to avoid getting too close as it can be stressful for them.
