By now most of you probably know, one of our fellow myLotters, @asylum has passed away. He was diagnosed with cancer last summer and bravely battled it with great concern for those who might be distressed about it.
He was a favorite of mine and one of the first people I followed after Belle Starr introduced me to myLot and recommended Barry. She told me he had a great sense of humor and she enjoyed his discussions.
Barry and I became pen-pals of sorts. He knew I liked postcards so I was added to the list of those who received postcards from his travels and he traveled so often I sometimes received four or five in a single month! But rare it was that I didn't receive one because he sent them from all the local places he visited as well as his holiday trips.
I often sent him postcards as well, although my trips were fewer. It was always fun to pick out a special card that I though he would like. He didn't collect postcards but discovered it was fun to receive them as well as send them.
He often sent me little packages of British ephemera for my journals. They were so fun to open, just interesting little things like colorful labels on British food packages, stickers, train stubs, colorful brochures. He was always a bit puzzled about why they were interesting to me! As most of you might wonder as well, but that is a THING with junk journaling and he merrily gathered up what he thought would be fun and these packages would be so delightful to receive. I shared much of it with other junk journalists that I swapped with.
Sadly, I followed his progress with the cancer and the last exchange we had was at Christmas last year. Shortly after that he really slowed down his posts and I believe late March was the last time I saw him respond here. His posts here were always very enjoyable and I'm so happy to have been not only a follower but his friend.

It is correct, he left a comment mid-March to say he was not active because in pain and confused. I am so sorry he did not make it. I know he did his best to fight the cancer, I fear it had already spread too much when it was first diagnosed. Barry will always be in my heart.

@Jeanniemaries the member search does not seem to let me find the specific member when I type his username, anyway I'm nor really sure if he was part of the old Mylot but the name seems to ring a bell but I'm positive I had interactions with him several times.

He fought a hard battle and I was sad to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful man. I was reading some of his past discussions and shredding a few tears. His pen has come to rest but he will live on in so many people's memories. May he rest in peace.

Yes, he will be missed. Creating journals out of junk mail and other things one might throw away. Barry was always puzzled about it, but collected many very fun items to send me!
