“Can We Eat A Gum?"

When I was a kid, my mother usually doesn’t want us to chew a gum. As far as I could remember, I had it when I was grade 1 in primary school. The first question that asked that time: “Can I eat the gum?” My mom freaked out and said, “You might get sick if you swallow it.” I had noticed that young ones are not into gums and even can’t blow a bubble. “Do you remember when you had chew gum?” “Can you blow a bubble out of it?” Image Credit: pixabay.com

@Shavkat I used to love to chew gum and blow bubbles and they would get all over my mouth. I have swallowed gum before and never got sick.

I had swallowed some gums. Honestly, when I was young, I felt scared. I thought that I might die.

@Hannihar I think our stomach has an acid that can dilute it.

Oh, yes I'd tried bubble gum when I was a kid. Sometimes we were going to have a game blowing a gum and those who have bigger bubble were gonna win.

We haven't tried this kind of game. What's the winner's prize?

actually we can digest gum and they won't stick on our stomach. An old scare mongering article just caused the stigma.

@Shavkat well this myth has been around for centuries so people still believe it despite of the fact it's debunked.

@ridingbet I agree. Things had changed. Some of these gums are not available in the market. The red ones are quite good at making bubbles. Bazooka is quite hard when chewing them.lol

I remember being told if I swallowed him it would take seven years to dissolve. It sounds like such an old wives tale now.

I agree. The elders had the same way of thinking. As the years go by, they don't mind at all now.

The elders all told us not to eat the gum, or there would be a big trouble. So I was careful to it when I was a child. Now I guess even if I ate it by an accident, it would not be as serious as they said?

I think it will not cause any harm. Our stomach has some acids that can burn it out.

I don't think that one will get harmed by eating a gum but it is not recommended though because it is sticky. I am not a fan of it though.

At present, I am not fond of them. Because of the sticky of it, it is not advisable.

When I was in my chewing gum years I swallowed quite a few pieces accidentally. Didn't seem to do anything bad. My dad taught me to blow bubbles when I was five years old and then I really enjoyed walking about making those pops.

My mom taught us to bubble a gum. I had swallowed a few of them before. I think it will be dissolved with the acid in our tummy.
