I have lost over 60 pounds while being on a plant based diet

I decided quite awhile ago, that I was going to start eating healthier, as I was way overweight, looked horrible and I felt bad about myself too. I can honestly say that I feel better about myself, more than I ever have before. I think it has been almost a year that I have been on this diet and I know that it doesn't seem like much to lose in that time, but I don't want to lose to much at once as it would come back on so easily. We all know that we don't put it on overnight and we certainly can't take it off over night either. I have actually lost a dress size, and have to replace my wardrobe. Most of the clothes I have just hang on me, although I like to wear bigger clothes, these are just a little to big. When I went shopping for smallter sizes I wasn't sure what would fit and what wouldn't. I must say, that the few items I purchased in a smallter size, really fit nicely, and they don't hang on me/. I should have started this sooner, and just kept putting it off. Now that I have lost as much as I have, I intend to keep going, although, it more than likely will bottom up sooner than I would like, but it is what it is. If anyone is thinking about eating healthier, there is not time like the present to start. You will look better and feel better as well, as I am a living testimony to the fact.

Congratulations, 60 pounds in one year it's perfect. You can lose more, but you risk to gain the pounds back in no time. Changing the eating habits is the only way to go.

You are right as it is the only way to go. I am glad that I have lost and lost slowly. I wouldn't want to gain to fast and then put them all back on again, as that is defeating the purpose of losing in the first place. I am going about it the right way, and so happy, I can see progress.

@LadyDuck Yes it is. I have lost before and way to fast, and ended up putting it back on and then some. I I may only lose a couple punds a week, but hey, I am losing, and that is all that matters.

Thank you so much. I don't mind looking in the mirror now, as I see a smaller version of me. Before I lost any weight, I just didn't like seeing myself in the mirror, as I was appalled by what I saw. I am glad that I have lost as I have more confidence in myself that I will continue on the road I am on.

@Jessabuma I really wasn't sure when I started thiis, what the result would be, as I have never been lucky in losing before and keeping it off. I think though, that I had gone about it in the wrong way, and now that I have found the proper way to lose weight, I am going to keep going.

I have never lost this much weight before, as I would lose a few pounds then gain some back. I decided that if I wanted to be healthier, I needed to continue doing what I am doing. I know it will get to a point where I won't lose anymore, but for right now, I will keep going as long as i am going to keep losing.

Thank you. It is never to late for anyone to try to lose weight. I am 70 yearrs old, and I can attest that it does work. You are never to told to try to lose wieght. Putting it off is just prolonging the ineveitable, which we all know is disastrous. I am going to continue and hopefully lose a lot more.

@toniganzon To me that is just a cop out as we all have time to get healthy. It is theat they just don't want to, so they make excuses to as why they can't. If they can take time to eat, then they can take time to eat the right foods. It takes persistence and willpower to do it. If I can do it, anyone can, as I am the most skeptical person out there, but I can tell you, it works as I am a living testament that it is entirely possible if you put your mind to it.

I was totally surprised, when I bought the dresses and brought them home, that they actually fit. Now, I have to keep going and buy a little at a time, and replace all the big skirts and dresses I have in the closet. I will donate them as someone else could use them. I now look at myself in the mirror when I wear them, and say YES, I did it. What a great feeling.

@silvermist Oh, me too. I should have started it sooner than I did, as I could have lost a lot more by now, but I am totally happy with my journey so far, and it has given me the incentive to keep going, no mater how long it takes.

I hope that you make your goal too. It will take time, that is for sure. I don't have a set goal as not sure how far it will even go. I will accept whatevcer I end up with, as it is much better than what I started with, for sure.

@rakski That is my goal too. AS long as I don't put it all back on, I am happy. That has been happening for years, and now it is going the other way, and I couldn't be happier. I hope to maintain it as well, and I know that with perseverance I will be able to.

Well, I find recipes that re vegan and I will make them if I haven't already. I don't drink cows milk, eat eggs, cheeze or meat. I try to eat a lot of fruits and veggies, as I do drink lots of smoothies,. I make my own soup as I have a vitamix, as well as sauces and different things. I only eat two meals a day, and it is working niely. I am never hungry, as my body has learned to accept what I put into it, so it has helped me lose the weight I have so far, and I will keep going for sure.

That really is wonderful and what better reason for having a whole new wardrobe! I'm not really overweight but I could lose a few pounds if I could just stop eating chocolate!

I certainly know what you mean there as that has been a weakness of mine for years. I don't eat that anymore either, and I don't miss it either. Once I would start eating it, I couldn't stop, so I decided not to buy it anymore, and that way I am not tempted to eat it. I don't miss it whatsoever. I don't miss any of the foods I have given up, as I am better off without them.

@sprite1950 Yes you have to change your mindset so you don’t keep craving it. I sort of miss it too, but not craving it, like I used to. It is t good for us anyway, so I am better off without it, and you will be too,

@Shavkat You have to do what is best for you, as a plant based diet isn't for everyone. I wasn't sure I could do it either, but I told myself I could and just did it. I am glad too, as I am enjoying being healthy, and feeling better about myself. It takes persistence and willpower, and if I can do it anyone can.

I don't eat any meat, dairy, cheeze, nor dairy milk. I use non dairy milk, or make my own. Basically. I make a lot of my own foods, as I know what is in them as what you buy in the store has way to many chemicals in them that are harmful. I would rather make my own and not have to guess what the ingredients are.

Congratulations. You are approaching this the right way. Slow and steady. By losing weight slowly and consistently you are proving that the changes you are making are ones that you can carry on making as part of lifestyle changes not some crazy crash diet that is impossible to maintain.

Yea, I hear you there on the crash diet, as I have been there and done that, and they just don't work. Maybe for a moment, but then I end up ballooning up again. I will never ever do the crash diet again, as the way I am going about it is the best way. My weight will fluctuate a little but nothing significant, and it keeps coming off. The trick is not to eat late at night/ I really eat two meals a day and nothing in between. It has been working so I am going to coninue.

@WorDazza Thank you. I don't worry when it fluctuates, as it never stays there. I just have to be persistent and tell myself I can do it. Now that I am in a smaller dress size, I want to stay there, as I look better now, than I ever have before.

@rosekiss That's the important thing. Finding something that works for you. It's good that you don't get disheartened if your weight fluctuates slightly. That's perfectly natural. As long as the trend is downward that's the important thing. Again, well done you. Keep it up. Or should that be down?

I eally don't have a goal as not sure how far it will go before it bottoms out. Antything is better than what it was for sure. I haven't been under 200 pounds in ages, and it really feels good. I am accomplishing what I set out to do after many years of trying crash diets, that just didn't work, This works so I am going to keep going.

I am glad too. I have been heavy my whole life or most of it anyway, and I figured it is about time I do something about it. I just didn't like the way I looked. Now, I know I am losing weight as I can see it, and my son noticed it too, and mentioned that he could tell I am losing weight. When he sees it, I know it has to be true, as he isn't all that observant most of the time.
