Why in the world did my parents buy me a scale?

My dad came over just now and gave me a bag. In it was a digital scale. Why in the world did my parents think I wanted one? If I wanted to weigh myself, and keep track of my weight, I'd have gotten a scale myself a long time ago.
I don't want to know how much I weigh. I used to care about that when I was much younger. I remember I wanted to be no more than 100 pounds and I would obsess over it, especially if it went over that magic number. Now, I don't want to know my weight. To me, it's just a number anyway. I care more about the food belly, that I wish didn't exist.
Maybe that's why they got me the scale. Now, I have no choice but to weigh myself because I am pretty sure my mom will ask me time and again if I got on the scale and what the number was. I guess I can always lie and make up a number but I am not good at lying...

That was a strange gift to give you.. Did you ask them why?

@lovebuglena Hehe but still if you wanted a scale you could have totally gotten one yourself!

@infatuatedbby I know. It's not like it costs and arm and a leg.

I didn't ask them. But I bet my mom wants that food belly to disappear (as do I)... though how the scale will help with that I have no idea.

@lovebuglena Next time tell them you'd rather have a double layer chocolate cake with cool whip topping and French vanilla bean icecream!!!

Haha. I weighed myself last night and I was not happy with the number the scale gave me. I told my husband it can't be true and that the scale must be broken , especially since his weight on the scale was lower than it was before. No way mine is higher and his is lower.

Nope. I guess I have to watch what I eat now. Saying good-bye to danishes, muffins, pies and other baked goodies will be very hard to do.

I agree. That does sound like a conspiracy to get you to pay more attention to your weight. Why do parents have to be so sneaky? I would prefer that they just come out and say what they feel.

Well, my mom wants my food belly to disappear. And I want that too. But how is having a scale going to help with that?

I hate it when a person has a food belly and right away people assume that the person is pregnant. It's happened to me enough times. I've gotten congratulations and a belly rub from one person.

Parents sometimes do mysterious acts. Just accept it and do what they said, so they will be happy! :)

So far neither of them asked if I got on the scale.

Perhaps, it was a subtle nudge for you to watch your weight.

My dad actually went to the store today and bought it for me... And then came to me right away to give it to me. He even made sure it worked.
