I Found A Baby At My Door Tonight

United States

I went to go out my door tonight and found this little Opossum munching on the bird seed i threw out to the birds. It was a little guy about as big as my hand. I have chickens, so as cute as it was, it means possible trouble for my chickens as they will go after chickens and eggs. I relocated it to my front yard. Hopefully it will move along. I guess i can't feed the birds the left over seed any more.

I had one in my yard a few weeks ago. I watched it for a while and went back to what I was doing. After I learned that they eat ticks, I like them a lot more!

Yes they're not bad to have around, but not good if you have chickens

@Debscrochet Or horses, as their urine and feces can contain diseases that can kill them by eating infected grass. However, they don't get rabies, which is nice to know.

I see them and raccoons and armadillos, deer, but no skunks which is odd, but fine by me. I think they need more of a wooded area.

@Debscrochet I have seen Armadillos on the side of the road here and lots of skunks, but I would love to see a opossum

It is a cutie, but I wouldnt want it biting into me. How did you catch him to relocate him?

It's pretty docile, but i wouldn't touch it, Just kind of scooped in in a box then relocated it that way.
