Me and my sister returned yesterday from a quick 3 day trip to Death Valley National Park via Las Vegas. We rented a car and headed out west. There are some amazing things to see and we had a great time hiking through badlands and sand dunes. Death Valley National Park is over 3.4 million acres big and over 300 driving miles. We didnt have enough time to explore it all, but saw a lot of things. Including:
-Badwater Basin - the lowest elevation in the US (maybe the world, 200 feet below sea level)
-Zabriskie Point - an overlook of badlands from 1,000 feet up (and yes we had to climb the thousand feet, yikes!)
-Badlands Loop Trail - a poorly marked trail through and around badlands. We almost got lost.
-Saltwater Creek - a small creek that runs through the desert (lots of giant flies!)
-Devils Golf Course - this giant field of naturally occurring salt deposits. Quite crazy!
-and my favorite, as pictured, Mesquite Sand Dunes. Over 14 square miles of sand dunes, my classic vision of the desert. I am still getting sand out of places. We did see a rattlesnake as well!
This trip has got me interested in checking out more national parks. Which national parks or natural destinations do you think are a "must see"? I would definitely suggest Death Valley!

Wow!! You did go!! That all sounds amazing. We have Jakes Rocks and Kinzua dam in the Allegheny National Forest. Told hubby since I'm doing better I want to go this year. I'm looking for other cheap things to do this summer too. I'm rather excited.

Wow that sounds like a wonderful experience. I would love to see it in my lifetime but I can't see that happening. We have a few National Parks here that I like to go hiking at.

@maezee Fundy National Park is near me. It is the home of the highest tides in the word. There are lots of awesome rock formations and great hiking trails. We have a lot of smaller provincial parks too.
The world’s highest tides await visitors at Fundy National Park. Kayak on the Bay of Fundy, explore the seafloor when the tide recedes, hike or bike through native Acadian forests and more at one of Canada’s best-known national parks.
