Yes, because they are the experience holders in their lives and they know how bad can poverty be and how they feel when some one give a helping hand at the time of need. having realized this these people do charity to save others from having such troubles! Thanks!

I have the same question too. I wonder where they found those kind of statistics.

Well I've found that it's the opposite. Usually wealthy people brag more

In my opinion, some wealthy people are in a state of mind of pure selfishness. Their money is their God. They have a fear of losing their money. Giving it away for any reason would be detrimental to them. They forget where they come from. The good book says. Give and it shall be given unto you. Wealthy people think. If I keep all my money I will be fine. Crazy isn't it!

@Herlyn123 It was nice if there are some statistics about it.

I agree with some of the other responses. I know how it is to not have money, so when I see someone who needs it and I am in the position to help, I do. One time we saw this older woman lecturing a man who was obviously homeless and having a hard time. She was lecturing him about his hair since it was long.
The thing is, he wasn't even asking for money. So my fiance and I went and got him some drinks, a sandwich and a gift card for Walmart. He was thankful. That made us feel really good.

This is because they really know the peek of poverty. So they donate as much they can afford.

Because they know how it is to have nothing. And when they have something no matter how little or small it is, they want to share.

Because the poor can feel the pain of the poor, they are more willing to help others.

I think donating should come from the heart and not the amount donated...and poor people knows how to be contented of what they have, rich people is never contented they ask for more richness in this world, which is carnal. that is why they give less...to earn more...for themselves and not for others...and yes they're never contented..

BEcause the poor know how it feels to have none and it is innate in them that they give even if they have nothing. They are actually selfless people.

Because they know the feeling of being poor and they know how it feels.

At my prior job, we would collect money for the local food bank. Many times, the people who didn't have that much money would donate more often than those who were better off. Poor people know what it is to go hungry or go without certain things so they will help those who are less fortunate than they are. Many of them said "you never know when you will be the one needing help" and it's true. None of us know when there will be a day that we need help putting food on our table or money for essentials. Many times it was young people who donated too. Others would refuse to donate and would say "they need to donate to me" and I would always tell them that they will donate to you, you just have to go there and get food. It is amazing to see the different attitudes from people when it comes to making donations.

The poor know what it’s like and don’t want other people to feel that horrible feeling and wealthy people become drunk with power because “money=power” apparently. This isn’t true for all people of course but if more poor people donate than wealthy, that’s why.

People who are not well off know how it feels to be in need, so they donate out of the goodness of their heart.

This is an excellent question. My 8 year old daughter said the other day her teacher gives money to homeless people. She is a person of fairly medium wealth. I know a man that is poor and lives in a caravan and he eats sandwiches with homeless people. He works part time and a room would be too expensive for him to afford.
Very wealthful people are concerned with making more money and keeping these to themselves. Dave Ramsey is a millionaire and he say poorer people pay off their debts while to the richer people live with many debts. I think poor people know that every person needs shelter and food so they donate to the less fortunte.

I willingly give money or food to people in person than give to charity as there is too much fraud goes on here and I would rather see in person that the money they need actually does reach the right people.

I think that because those of us who have less money know how it is to go without, so if we have a bit extra to spare we are more likely to want to help others who are in bad situations. I recently got a large amount of money I was owed and there is always a young pregnant girl who begs for money near a truck stop. I gave her a $20 bill the day I got the money because there have been times I’ve been to the point of considering standing on a corner and begging.

I think it's because they understand what it's like not to have. They have walked in the shoes of the less fortunate.
