Being prepared for power cuts??

As well as resucing a baby bird yesterday, we also had a powercut! Powercuts are not uncommon up here in Orkney due to storms and old infrastructure.
Part of life on these small islands means you have to be a bit of a prepper - you never know when you will be without power for a few days. Torches and candles are always at hand, the wood burning stove is always primed ready to be lit (if it is not on already) and a supply of food ready to be cooked on the gas stove handy.
Luckily the powercut only lasted 6 hours yesterday and we had a very tasty picnic whilst playing board games by candle light!
Do you get power cuts often and are you prepared?

Sorry to hear that. For me here, it has been a long time that I experienced that kind of power cuts

Power cuts are not often here in Manila and usually these power interruptions are scheduled so people can prepare in advance.
