Today the electric power is generated by using a turbine which was invented, by Sir Charles Parsons, in 1884.
This invention has creation a revolution in the World and soon people have started depending on this energy for day today use.
Have you ever realized the importance of Electric Power in our day to day life?
Life becomes miserable if we fail to get this power supply for few hours at our places as many routine works at our homes gets stand still!
Today we are using electric power to run hundreds of equipment to make our lives comfortable.
It is impossible for us to live today without the Electric power!
I was surprised to realize that we use about thirty appliances at our place that run on electricity.
How many gadgets, appliances you have at your place that runs on electric power?
Do you think that we have got addicted to the use of this power?
Are we taking this power for granted?
Has this power made us it's slaves?
Please respond your comments will be sincerely appreciated! Thanks!

I fully agree that people in my home country are dependent on electricity. I think that I am too because in my home I use many electrical products. In my lounge I have a television, a stereo, a two tablets, two ceiling lights and a lamp. I use even more electricity in my kitchen with a cooker, a fridge, a toaster, a microwave and six lights on my ceiling. I like to have lights which I can turn on when it is dark. Yes, I take power for granted and know that life was harder without electric power in the past.

I think we should be friends with technology and electricity, not foes. So, I consider myself to be a friend of electricity and technology not a slave and nor a foe

@AKRao24 I did not miss that point though nor have I contradicted it. For. certain activities and areas electricity is absolutely necessary but this does not mean that we are its slaves

Yes, we are definitely slaves to our electricity. We once went three weeks without power after Hurricane Katrina . It was a nightmare that I don't care to ever relive.

We'll I don't really think that it has come to a worst point...
I know there are stuff that I can do even without electricity. I know how to wash my clothes even without washing machine... for example...
but there are things that needed electricity that I can't do manually for long periods of time...
like the water pump for my fishes and our fridge

I am getting you what you want to imply....there are many things which can be accomplished manually without using the power, but it would waste lot of time and make us tired to reduce our efficiency! So people prefer to use power to accomplish such routine jobs so that their energy can be channelized in a proper manner! Thanks

Yes we have become slaves to electrical power. From personal experience panic does set in a bit when a storm or outage knocks out the electricity for awhile

@AKRao24 Yes, 10 days! We were hit by Hurricane Sandy which decimated our area. It was compounded by a snowfall which along with the winds knocked down numerous power lines.

Our ancestors used to adapt to the days when there was no electricity. But now we have so much dependence on the electricity power, If one day we suddenly run out of electricity. It is hard to imagine what will happen.

So true! I really wonder sometimes, how people used to stay comfortably in villages with out any power when we were kids. We used to visit our native village along with my parents to see our grand parents.Though they had a big house there was no electricity there. We used to find difficult for a day or so then we also used to get acclimatized to it used to enjoy the stay without electricity then! Now the things are very different! Thanks!

I think people in the past had more trees and fresh air. And they did not become dependent on different things.

And our ancestors used natural materials like Khus and other things or leaves to cover the huts and houses to make the cooler during summers.
"BAOLIS" - Or water storage structures stored water. Many such Baolis in Delhi and elsewhere have dried though I read somewhere that conservation efforts are underway for some of these structures.

That is a good idea ! In fact during our childhood we used to visit our grand parents staying in a village where there was no power then , this is about 40 years back and we could acclimatize ourselves with the life over there within few days ! I think if we try we can achieve that! Very good thoughts, I appreciate that! Thanks dear friend!
