Guess what? Many of you may remember a writer and retired teacher we had here named Elizabeth Wallace. She was writing a book, so had to drop off the site. However, we are friends and have been going to lunch and seeing each other at least once a month for several years. She misses many of her MyLot friends and wanted me to tell you all "Hi." She has been swamped with her book. Her book is now published and on Amazon. It is called "Free College" by Elizabeth Wallace and is a guide for people who want their children to win scholarships to college. It contains a lot of interesting tips for the parents of children of all ages. I asked Elizabeth (formerly known her as @ElizabethWallace) to give me her own summary of the book she has been working so hard to publish, and here is what she said: "I finally finished and published my book, Free College. It contains a simple step-by-step guide to mastering the proven habits, practices and strategies of the most successful college scholarship and grant winners. Families of Pre-K through High School students will learn tactics used by students who stand out from the crowd. By following the tips researched and collected for this book, students may become ideal scholarship and grant applicants. They may win more free cash for college, graduate debt free and reap a lifetime of benefits It’s available on amazon.com/books." I just thought all of you would like to know what Elizabeth has been up to! I'll send her a link to this post so you can congratulate her personally and she can read your comments! You can also follow her on Twitter at @ElizaWallace27

Wow, that is so wonderful, and I'm so happy for her to finally finish this book! I remember so many conversations with her here on myLot when she was writing it. Given that I have two teenage children (one of whom was just accepted to the University of Florida), I told her I couldn't wait to buy her book!

@moffittjc - It is wonderful to watch our children and grandchildren grow up and do well. I always read that "the purpose of a parent is to raise children who do not need them anymore." I think we are both succeeding in our roles.

Congratulations on your daughter who was just accepted to the University of Florida. One of our granddaughters was just accepted to CAL State Long Beach and another is graduating from CalPoly in San Luis Obispo. Our families have lots to celebrate!

@DeborahDiane I started doing college level work before I was 10. ^_^ Financially, my mom as a widow couldn't afford to send me to college until the state was willing to pay for it at 16. So I really do applaud your friends book. So many people don't know about scholarships and grants; there are many great opportunities out there to help earn a higher education. I now live in a state that actually offers the first two years/ AA free to residents.

@Daelii - That is wonderful! I think they are talking about initiating a program like that in California, for students at community colleges, but I do not believe they have been able to set it up, yet. I think it would be wonderful if they would do it in California, because so many kids can get trained in a field like nursing assistants, culinary skills, automotive repair and other things in two years.
