Well for me, Australia stands for :
1.Cricket
2.Cricket
3.The legendary Don Bradman.
4.The legendary fast bowlers Dennis Lillee, Jeff Thompson, Glenn McGrath(he was very difficult to play- even Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar found him very tough), Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc.
5.The legendary spinner- Shane Warne- who bowled the ball of the century in 1993 when he bowled out Mike Gatting with a ball that took a devastating turn and completely outdid Gatting.
6.The players like
- Steve Waugh
- Ian Chappell
- Alan Border
- Dean Jones
- David Boon
- Mark Waugh
- Mark Taylor
- The team having players like Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Adam Gilchrist, that wrestler like Matthew Hayden and many more
7.Then we have the Australian Hockey team which has won one (or is it two world cups), some Olympic titles and many more titles. They play fast, aggressive hockey. Their playing pattern of 5-3-2(5 attackers, 3 Mid field players and 2 defenders) is the same as what Indian Hockey Team has mostly followed.
However, Aussies have been much better than Indians in Hockey since 1980s.
8.Other sports like overall Olympics, Football.
9.Melbourne Cricket Ground or the MCG- legendary cricket ground- and a place I want to go and see one day.
10.Sydney Opera House- an iconic building
11.Kangaroos
12.The Western Australian desert area and the Outbacks- for the adventurous.
13.The Great coral reef.
14.Seas and beaches
15.Wide roads and less pollution
Well, my answer might be long, but I wrote it all myself based on my feelings and knowledge.
Yes, Aussies could be tough and their slangs might hurt others but Aussie spirit defines them a lot.
And one more I just remembered- the great commentator Richie Benaud.

It is better we earn there to really like it.
Crop circles are in the UK too and they are a mystery though for scientists nothing is a mystery!
Looks like there are some aliens in our midst already! siva

I think I am very lucky because I have visited Australia twice in my lifetime. I wish I could take my children to Australia however it is such a large country that I wouldn't be able to show them all that much. I visited Sydney the glorious city surrounded by a blue harbour. I loved seeing the coat hanger like bridge and the white sail like opera house. Another place I adored in Australia was Kangaroo Island in South Australia where I saw penguins in the night time and kangaroos in the day time. On Magnetic Island I saw koalas. The Great Barrier Reef in Queensland introduced me to snorkelling to see coral and fish. I had a wild time seeing crocodiles in the Northern Territory. That trip was in 1993 to 1994. In the year 2000 I went to Western Australia and that was just as stunning.

When I hear about Australia, the images of exotic animals come to my mind. I also visualize Australia surrounded by oceans and the image of modern cities also inundate my mind. It´s a country that I wish I could visit

Kangaroos, the aborigines, Crocodile Dundee, WHAM and the Bee Gees, Dr. Blake mystery series, and that beautiful barrier reef. I know there are a lot more things. But those come to mind right away.
