Here's an update of what's been going on around here:
My youngest daughter and I ran a 5K on Saturday. We didn't come in first, but we weren't last either!
We had a CPS home visit yesterday, which was related to trying to get custody of the stepchildren. We passed with flying colors! I'm really glad, because we worked really hard on cleaning and decluttering the house. Hopefully the report will be typed up and complete before the custody hearing so we can take that with us.
Our new van continues to be a good purchase. We're really happy with it, especially for the price.
The oldest boy has a birthday coming up. He wants to see the new Han Solo movie with some of his classmates for his birthday, so we've purchased 4 matinee tickets for opening weekend. He's trying to decide if he wants to do pizza or IHOP afterwards (both are near the theatre), and I'm planning to give him the tickets plus a gift card for either the pizza place or IHOP inside his birthday card.
He has also requested a new phone for his birthday, as the one he's using is quite old and the screen is badly cracked (for example, he occasionally cuts his finger using his phone), so I'm also trying to find an inexpensive phone that will work with our mobile carrier that doesn't have too many whistles and bells.
I can't believe there's only a couple of weeks left of school. Didn't spring just start? I need to get our water park season passes soon (one of our ways of surviving the 100+°F temperatures in the summer). I need to make sure everyone has a bathing suit that fits too.
I have earned only $1.06 on here this month, but I haven't been on much. I've been busy cleaning the house! No worries, it'll just roll over to next month.
The photo above was taken by me right before the 5K (I put stickers over the faces of strangers whose faces were very visible).

It was quite a workout, as the trail had a lot of hills!

@anikoonline Yeah, running on a level street or track is much easier.

@spiderdust I've never ran a trail, I guess it makes 5K much harder to accomplish.

@spiderdust You did right thing! "Treat others how you would like to be treated". In addition,I think it involves portraiture right.

I've had my face posted without my permission before by strangers taking photos at an event and uploading them to Facebook (I found out when mutual friends told me about it), so I try to not do the same, especially when they're children.

It was great to finish the 5K ran, even if you did not arrive first. Congratulations for putting stickers on the faces of strangers. So many people violate the privacy of others and this can become serious after the recent Internet rules.

Sometimes I don't worry about it, but these were children and their faces were very visible.

I'm glad the CPS visit went well, and hope you do get the report before the court date. Goodluck!
It sounds like a great birthday celebration, so hope they all enjoy the movie and wherever they go to eat.

@Courtlynn I did the pancake idea for breakfast, and then I attempted an ice cream cake made with brownies for his birthday dinner.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do for his birthday cake, because he doesn't actually want cake. Maybe I'll make brownies and pile them up on a plate, or a bunch of donuts, or make him a stack of pancakes for breakfast and put a candle on top.

I'm glad things are going well for you. But your son does need a phone bad if he cuts himself dialing.

It's probably because we hadn't started running yet. We were very tired when we finished!

I hope so too. The caseworker indicated that the kids are doing much better with us, and I hope that makes it into the report.
