Shall We Dance?

When I was young I yearned to dance I sought to make the fellows glance, I gyrated, shook my belly bounced about just like a jelly. I thought that I looked really cool but people said I looked a fool, so then I had a go at tap but that was worse as I was crap. Rock-and-Roll next on the list but all my friends said please desist, attempted then the palais glide but all my efforts were decried. My dancing had a lot of faults so now I'd like to learn the waltz and then perhaps the minuet or better still a pirouette. So that's what's on my bucket list perhaps I'll find what I have missed, is it too late to learn this skill and prove that life is in me still?

Nice poem as usual. Waltz is old fashioned how about one of the latest such as popping.

@DianneN Oh my - you do a dip? I've seen them do that in Spain, it's very impressive. (Though not if you end up on the floor!)

Haha Come with me I will show you how I'll step on your feet and break your nails. At our age if we twist and shout We'll trip a*se over head and fall right on our snout. I think that we have two left feet This dancing lark is no mean feat. If I were you I'd forget the dancing At our age I don't think we should be prancing. Imagine you dressed up to the nines I'd give it a miss when thinking of lines I ask you lets do a tango But trip and fall right over our egos Where once our pins were mean and nimble These days it's like we're walking on thimbles. I think it wise to have a think Forget it Jan let's go for a drink!

Great poem, and although I enjoy Strictly Come Dancing immensely, I am no Fred Astaire. I am pretty much limited to a half decent Hokey Cokey, an Oops Upside Your Head (takes me a while to get back up off the floor these days), the Birdie Dance and Remember You're a Womble. But not one after the other. I need a sit down in between.

I don't think it's ever to late to try something new. I've never heard of the one, palais glide. Have you ever done the hustle? It's a line dance from back in the seventies. At a wedding recently I would have taught it off my foot want hurting. That was always a favorite of mine

@jaboUK yes, it's lasting a lot longer than anticipated. We're thinking it might be do to me working when most my age are retired or working two jobs. Also, when I watched TV this winter I propped my feet up but not so they were over my heart. I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes but this week I'm off from cashiering and trying to do a lighter week with windows. I'm spending a good part is each day with my feet up on 4-5 pillows while trying to get a bit done here and there.
