Do you think religion can save someone's soul

I think I am agnostic in faith, I believe in God but for me God is unknowable. I am born Christian (Catholic) though every belief in my religion doesn’t satisfy me. Now, the hard part is that how to explain my belief of being so agnostic in the eyes of my child? Do you think religion can really save someone’s soul?

If one's house was on fire, would their religion save them or is it what they did that would save them?

I don't go to church any more because of some of the people there. But I think it is your belief in God and your faith that saves you. Even though I don't attend church I read the Bible and try to live a Christian life.

I think so too. I read the bible too and I've enjoyed every wisdom from it but part of me is very skeptical.

REligion plus what you make of your life is what could save you.

I think what someone makes of his life is good enough.

Being agnostic puts you among the "undecided" where religion is concern. I don't have that problem of explaining religion to my grandchildren who stayed with me growing up. At the very start I taught them to respect the religious choices of every person.just like I gave them a free hand to choose theirs. I have never found a satisfactory explanation of what a "soul" is especially from the church so I cannot give you an answer as to whether religion can save "souls".

@simplfred _Better to teach them to question everything. Children are by nature curious. From curiosity comes creativity. Unfortunately our "education" tend to stifle this inquisitiveness and turn them into followers not seekers of the truth. Same goes for religion.

It's really hard when I am teaching my child something I don't believe in.

Hi Frederick. No for me. It would be the faith and trust that will save you.

Me too, I don't even know if I am safe from the harsh punishment. Like I've said I believe that there's God but I am not following any rules of religion. I just decide on what is good and bad through my conscience.

@simplfred I agree with you, Fred. I just want to die peacefully and be able to say sorry for all my sins.

No. There's no true religion for me. It depends on how strong your faith to God is

If you believe in God then you must believe in His son Jesus Christ also. Without Jesus Christ in your life there is no hope of salvation.

I believe in God. My God has no name. I don't want to discuss further because faith is a long debate. At the end, no one will prove who's wrong or right if the case is religion and faith.

To me, organised religions divide so I don't belong to any .. and I brought up my children to find out for themselves what they want to believe ..

Oh, I like that. There are those parents that will not let you find the truth out there.

God will and not religion. Doesn't matter how perfect you participate in your customs and traditions but if you don't believe in God and repent for every sin you made, then it's useless.

I think only the truth can set you free. Please dont ask me what that is as I am still in 'seeking' mode. I will say this though. I have not found it in ANY religion and I have observed all of them for many years.
