It's good to be back

Even though I love going on vacation I always get excited when it is time to come home. I miss sleeping in my own bed, having all my personal things around me, seeing familiar faces, just the little things that remind me I am home where I belong. I remember feeling the same when I was a child. I would get so over excited before we went and even though we had some amazing holidays as a family I was always ready to come home at the end. For those of you who go away do you miss your home and look forward to coming back after a vacation or do you always wish you could stay longer?

I am happy when I am vacationing, but I feel all the time even more happy to come back home.

The only trouble is it feels as if I haven't been away now!

@sprite1950 This is the problem, the daily routine makes us quickly forget the vacations.

@LadyDuck I took a few photos of Teagan by the pool as she spent so much time there but they don't like us to take photos of other people's children even though it is impossible to recognise anyone with so many heads bobbing about!

it's been so long since I have vacationed.. I almost don't remember... I do remember missing my pets.. almost as soon as I left.. and I also remember feeling comforted when returning and laying my head on my own pillow in my own bed.. I think sometimes we take it for granted.

@sprite1950 poor puppy.. I have too many animals to travel which is why I have not vacationed in over a decade. I think though I may start taking my week off from work instead of working thru it and have some time for myself.

@minx267 Yes you should take some time for yourself. I don't know if I will have another dog after mine are gone as I am getting older myself and don't want to leave one behind if anything should happen to me. I can't bear the thought of one of my babies going to a dog's home. It must be so frightening for them.

Yes I won't go for another year now. Once a year is enough for me and certainly enough for my dogs, one of whom gets travel sick.

@nela13 Yes I get on well with mine apart from the fact she snores! I could hear her even with my bedroom door shut.

I really did thanks nela. We only had one bad day weatherwise and my granddaughter spent most of her time in the pool while my sister and myself enjoyed the food and drink.

Many times unless it is just a short quick trip, I am ready to come home. Even when I have been places and seen old friends. Their is nothing that compares to my Own bed and relaxation of home.

Yes I can completely relate to that. I have been 3 nights in my own bed now and I'm sleeping really well. I kept waking up after a few hours while I was away.

I love to travel to different places and while I am away I collect things for my home like a costume doll from the country that I visit. I have got two shelves in my lounge with lots of costume dolls. When I get home from my travels I feel happy to develop my travel photos. Then I enjoy putting them into a white photo album. On the shelf above my costume dolls I have lots of travel photo albums. There is no place in the world like my home. It is a special place for me and my family. My trips are never long enough however home is wonderful for me to return to.

Yes it's a mixed feeling. Lovely to go away but just as exciting to come home. Your dolls must give you such happy memories of where you visited.

For me, the longer I can stay on vacation, the better! I always dread coming back home, because that means the magic and excitement and relaxation of vacation is over, and I'll have to go back to reality. Maybe I'll feel different after I retire and know I don't have to return to a stressful job after a relaxing vacation!

@moffittjc I've always fancied having a campervan but only for day trips and weekend getaways as I'm the opposite to you and always want to come home. Have you ever had a campervan? It sounds as if it would be the ideal vehicle for you.

Even when I was little I enjoyed coming home even if I had to go to school. I guess I'm just a home bird.

@sprite1950 I wish I could just travel full-time. Go on a vacation or trip somewhere, and then when the trip was over, instead of going home I just go on the next vacation or trip. And just keep traveling around like that!

I love staying in hotels since staying there, I do not have to think about tidying up the house or doing any cooking. Hate the laundry task while we are out of the house though. My kids were always like that, love to go go go, and would always be the first to ask, 'mom, when will we go home? I want to go home!' (That was years ago.)

It's kind of nice that they want to be home. It means they have a happy family life if they want to return.
