Why do you hate them? I think that they are funny looking.

Clowns don't really bother me. My husband is afraid of them. We went to Halloween Horror nights at Universal Studios one year and they had a alley filled with dry ice smoke and killer clowns. It really freaked him out.

im kindof scared of them. im not scared of them before but when i saw this show in tv where the clown transforms into an evil monster, i became afraid of them. ^__^;; and i find them weird-looking with all those make-up on and loose costumes and large shoes. just weird.

I have always hated clowns and do not find them at all funny, in actual fact when I think of clowns what comes to mind is Pennywise that scary clown from Stephen King's IT. I think they are actually scary especially for kids and as an adult they look absolutely stupid. The only funny bit about them is the person who's a bit 'funny' for dressing up in that hideous clobber in the first place!

As a very small child my daughter was scared by a friend dressed as a clown for Halloween, so for a while she was scared of them. When her dad was ill, and I was with him about 22 hours a day at the nursing home, she began performing as a clown in a Christian clown troupe. One of her close friends Dad was the leader of the troupe. They traveled all over. Most of the clowns were college age, and were her big brothers and sisters, nurturing her and caring for her during that hard time. Later, my college age son clowned with them a little while, and I did as well. Garden Gerty is the last figure I portrayed, in the spirit of Klem Kadiddlehopper and Freight Train Willie. The extra lines or "tears" around the clowns eyes are there to express the thought that for the time being the clown is willing to take on your sadness, so that you may have joy. I do not like horror movie clowns, or clowns who wear makeup of what is called the "grotesque" style, which is the scary, way overboard style. I like hobos and augustes and delicate white face clowns.

I don't really like or dislike clowns although I can see why people find them scary- they have a really creepy appearance and laugh.

i'm not afraid of clowns and neither is my 3 year old daughter. but i do understand why some people are. my friend is and she told me it's because she can't see their real expressions and so she doens't know what they are thinking and that's what freaks her out.

I don't have a big preference about clowns but I think that they are funny. I used to be scared of them but I got over my fears of clowns and I like to see them in a circus.

You aren't alone. I hate them as well. Now the hobo style ones I don't mind but the rest they can all go away. Even doll versions of them I don't like.
