It is a small country that near China,I believe people can't find it easily on the world map ahahha:) The average of people who get married is around 26 years old which is really different from the State, and we keep our last name after married~

Welcome to mylot. Is the KMT still the major political party in Taiwan? I'm curious as to what ordinary people in Taiwan think about China. Do they consider themselves Taiwanese or Chinese?

@AnnychangChang _The Kwomintang (KMT) led by Chang Kai Sek fled the mainland after the communist takeover. It was before your time. Here in the Philippines majority of Chinese ( Hoâ-kiâo or Huá-ren) at that time were against the communist Chinese. They came mostly from the province of Fujian. The Filipino gov't allowed them to have their own schools where Mandarin and Hokkien was used. These schools also raise the ROC flag and students sang the San Min Zhu Yi National anthem.

@josie_ oh~I got it,It's the short name~Yes, it is still the major political party, and as well as Democratic Progressive Party. So is it means that Filipino can speak Chinese?

What is KMT? It's a very good but sensitive question, some people think they are Chinese due to the history, but me,I think I'm Taiwanese because I was born and raised here,it's like when you randomly ask a person who lives in Philippines since they were kids,I believe they will say they are Filipino, hope this is the answer that you want to hear:)

Hi! Welcome to myLot. I hope you will enjoy here. When I heard your country name , it reminds me of "At the dolphin Bay" a Taiwanese drama starring Angela Chang and Wallace Huo.
