All my friends went to college and most went to graduate, law, or med school. I only know a few who went into a different field. One became the owner of his own plumbing supply distribution center, and a dentist friend became an entrepreneur.

I would like to think that only about half of my friends even went to college/university. In my time you could still have a very successful career without a degree especially if you went into business on your own or got into a company on the ground floor and worked your way up.

Most of my friends went to college and only two finally decided to change to a different field. One graduated as a Medicine Doctor and he decided to be a Vet, he loves animals. The other studied as Lawyers but he opened a Financial Office.

I guess a lot of people go to college, and end up doing something else.

I went to college and basically worked in the field most of my working life. Other people I know worked in allied fields. I hope you had a good day too.

@jstory07 I did a class here and there but refuse to give homage to something that does not teach and prepare people properly at the prices they charge. I know its silly, but someone has to stand for somthing and call out institutions they are shoving down our throats. That with military courses have maybe a year of college credit but probably not considered important classes to the corporate world, but why do I care? They not in it for the true reasons, just profitable ones. Did I say this out loud?

My daughter went to college for a degree in writing but ended up getting her license for hair dressing instead.

Me, a lot of them were to be teachers, one works 3rd. shift at walmart, another is the produce manager at Publix grocery store. Another older friend, she was a teacher, got married and got into real estate, like me. Another is a paralegal and she is now a waitress. One went to med school and is now a social worker.
But many did go do what they had planned.

Most of mine went into the profession they studied for: education or nursing. The ones who didn't were liberal arts, English, history etc. majors. Most of my college friends who studied music got a job in music, but not immediately out of college.

I think almost 70% but the percentage of those who finished college is only half of that.
