A GOOD TRAIT Passed On to ME: "The FLIP FLOPS"

Most parents wanted to let their children have good traits. They tried their best to pass it on. Today, I am packing my things and suddenly remembered my old man. He used to tell us that we need to bring flip flops in our backpacks. At first, I find it weird and silly for him to say this. Eventually, I realized the importance of it. If we travel or visit a certain place, we cannot guarantee that there are flip flops available for us. It was being practiced until now.
My younger brother, wife, niece and I will travel at 5 AM tomorrow (July 10). We are going to visit my younger sister in Valenzuela, Philippines. Afterward, I’ll be back home and let them spend summer vacation with my sister. I will spend there for a day or two.
“Do you carry your flip flops when traveling?”
“Any good traits passed on to you by your loving parents?”

My daughter likes to take flip flops when we travel somewhere. They are ideal when showering in a hotel and lovely to wear while on a beach. I am so happy that they don't take up much space in our luggage and they are lightweight too. I don't have any because I don't find them comfortable. Instead if I have space in my luggage then I take a pair of lightweight sandals. My mum thought me about reading books and how important this is. These days e books are available. In the past I often too books on a trip to lots of places like I did for my trip around the world.

Yes, I always carry my flip-flops. I actually have one pair that is wrapped in a shoe bag and sits in my carry on bag/duffel bag solely for traveling. I learned a lesson the hard way - one time when we visited my parents in the Philippines, we stayed at Sulu Hotel. Back then I do not bring flip-flops. Thinking that the flip-flops in the hotel room's cabinet are for guests, I ripped open one pair and used it. Upon check-out, they charged us 50 pesos more for those (almost a dollar). From then on, I always make it a point to bring a pair with me.

I like to take a pair of slippers when I go out to travel, too. When I go to other people's house, I always help them to do something. I think this is the good trait my mother taught me.

I usually wear sandals and not flipflops to travel anywhere.
I prefer sandals for me at least.

@LadyDuck I think some flip-flops are good in quality. it is comfortable to use. I do agree with you that it can be possible to have plantar fasciitis secondary to wearing such footwear. In my country, it is not also possible for the drivers to use flip-flops when driving. It is a big no-no.

@Shavkat There are many reasons not to wear flip flops, they are bad for our feet. They are one of the common causes of plantar fasciitis, because they do not offer the right plantar support. You get fined here if you wear flip flops while driving, they are a cause of car accidents.

@Shavkat hahaha! yes that is true, kabsat. and the first thing that should be exposed when you open your luggage should be your... pair of slippers. that is one practice i learned from my late mother.
after the flip-flops, is my towel.
