An article in "Animal Cognition" suggests "Baby Talk" is effective to dogs

A very interesting study in an article in the May issue of "Animal Cognition" suggests that dogs understand what their owner tell them if they speak in "Baby Talk" speak. What I know about dogs is that they liked being adored and petted. I have learned one thing about dogs which is they various ways to get my attention when nature calls them. Some dogs will rub their nose either on my arm or leg to get my attention. The catch is that sometimes the dog wants to go the bathroom and sometimes they do not want to go the bathroom but want some love and some kind words to them.

@Deepizzaguy My dog when I had her and she knew we were going out would go around in circles because she was so excited. I think when you talk to animals in a regular voice they understand you. I know my cat does. I do not talk baby talk to her. I talk to her in both English and Hebrew and she understands me.

All of our animals seem to know what we say and mean. One of the little dogs will look under the covers when we ask "Where's the Sheester (sister)?" to her. Her sister is normally under the covers so she will start digging for her. It's sweet. The other day I asked my sister's dog "Do you want to go get your kid?" (Her "kid" is my daughter). Next thing I know, our smallest is at the door because he loves car rides and walks, but he doesn't do well with new people so we leave him at home if we are walking the dogs.

That is true. I just wonder if dogs understand other languages as well.

Hi George. That is interesting. I will remember that when I have a new dog again. When my husband will allow me to have one.

Dogs are very smart creatures. One of my favourite animals. They're just such kind natured and only want love and affection from their owners. My sisters staffy is one of the nicest dogs ever and that breed always seems to get a bad name which is such a shame cause it's how a dog is brought up is how they behave in my oponion.
