What's the Big Deal about 'a Day of the Year'? What Makes It Any Different?

Nothing, really (except perhaps something "astrological" ... something about 'the planet Earth returning to relatively the same position relative to the Sun & -relative to the mostly-consistent visible-universe (constellations); but it ... it probably has something to do with the very-root of the word "arbitrary"---it's the date (& possibly time) that 'the wider community agrees-upon' as "the time that we will celebrate-a person's birth or -a couple's marriage or -a celebrated community-achievement!'

I wondered about this when Microsoft Bing told me today (June 21) is Prince William's birthday, and I started a little "study" of the word-histories used in all his titles & -appointments.
I'm a little bit jealous (as older people often are of younger people who--because they were lucky to have the parents they have--have done 10 tons more with their lives already).

Partly, but Prince William's "putting in the work" was basically 'telling GrandMum I wanna be a soldier/scholar,' and then getting dressed and going to the place and doing it, whereas for nearly anyone else it's a lot more work and a lot more luck needed!
Anyway, that's not 'what this discussion's about'---it's about 'what makes "a day that happens to have the same "month and date-number as happened all the years before" any different than any other day?'

@Daelii Then why not remember them everyday (for maybe five minutes in the morning) and then 'get on with life'?

@mythociate most people have the ability to remember events and have feelings relating to other people. So some days hold personal importance because of events happening on them.

Maybe according to old speculations on stellar orbits etc.; but--with the idea that the Sun is a star that orbits the center of the galaxy--maybe it's more like 'Earth takes the lead again'-day
