That used to be what photographers asked us to do and that is history now Selfies dictate these days. Anyway this post is not about photography but the several uses of cheese. I like cheese and have had the opportunity to taste quite a variety including ball cheese. Pizzas demand a different kind and so too when one wants to spread it on sandwiches. Then there are cubes that just can be eaten without a fuss. A combination of cheese and pinenapple is delicious. Have you tried it? Have you eaten the worm cheese? I am told it is very expensive Worms and cheese being expnensive kind of puts me off.

If it has actual worms in it I am not interested. I mostly like the blander types of cheese.

Maggot cheese is not popular in my country. I haven't seen one offered in the market. But I am willing to try it in the future.

Casu marzu is a very expensive 'worm cheese' from Sardinia (Italy). I have no intention to eat this cheese. There are many different varieties of cheese that I like, but I am a bit lactose intolerant, the only ones I can eat safely are the aged cheeses like Parmesan, the Swiss sbrintz, the Italian pecorino and similar. I prefer cheese and pear and cheese and grapes. Cheese with figs jam is delicious. I am waiting to pick up the figs to prepare it.

@LadyDuck Would you know why Mozzarella is picked for making pizza?

@allknowing Yes I know because mozzarella is the right cheese for pizza. Mozzarella melts and make bubbles, but it does not "burn" as many other cheeses do. Mozzarella is from the same Italian region where pizza was invented. In the beginning, before tomatoes were imported by Columbus to Europe. pizza was white, with only olive oil and mozzarella on top.

@allknowing Yes, we have a big fig tree and now a new one that is not bearing fruits yet. We have many different kind of cheeses in Italy, there are many that I like, I also like the blue Gorgonzola.

Not interested in worm cheese. I usually stick with the simple ones like colby and mozzarella

Is that the cheese with the maggots in it, that makes me queasy just thinking about it. My husband loves cheese and will eat almost all of them but that one is not on the list.

That is new to me and I do not think it is ignorance considering what @garymarch6 has to say that there are well over 1000 varieties of cheese. I am not surprised also that you do not like the worm cheese

I've never eaten any of that expensive worm cheese and have absolutely no plan to taste it LOL I absolute hate worms and think they're gross. But I do love cheese and love the pineapple and cheese thing. Mozarella is one of my favourite cheeses.

There are some really great cheeses around. There are over 700 varieties of British cheese in the UK and France possibly in the region of 1000 different variants of cheese. The Edam cheese as in the picture is pretty tasteless and rubbery and one that I would not rate too highly. It has been banned in some places because the larvae can cause pseudomyiasis when ingested. (Hardly a surprise there eh) Casu Marzu also has varieties in other countries thankfully not the UK. A variant is produced in Germany and France.
