"Secret Story" Books!

I have to say I came VERY tempted to purchase my first book ever in a book store without reading the back cover and the first chapter! Its my personal tendency to do so when shopping in person for reading material. While chasing after my darling almost 2 year old who kept trying to sneak into every hidden spot in the used book store.. I came across something I hadn't recalled seeing there before. The "secret story" section! How neat is this? Books wrapped up with a little bit about the treasure inside!

I love the first book's summary. I have heard of this and I imagine a lot of used book stores are adopting it. I didn't see a display in the store I was in the other day though. I need to read the synopsis before I decide. I don't know that I would partake in a "secret story" thing like this.

See the first one is the one I was really tempted on buying! My kids love stories about kitty cats and that one just sounded awesome!

@Daelii How much were the books do you know? That would probably help me ultimately decide. If it wasn't more than $10.00 I would probably risk it and if I didn't like it I would sell it.

Its just a collection of different used books the used book store has. So they really can be any book written in the last 50+ years! So it is a huge surprise.

I've seen this done and called "Blind Date with a Book." If I ever get to open my own used book store I'm TOTALLY going to do that!

@Daelii Our local used book stores always close, and it makes me sad. I loved visiting them.

That is a lovely name / concept for it too! The world needs more used book stores! The one in the town I live in closed down a while ago. So this one is a drive away... so gas can't justify the tip as a trip to just go there. However, for doctor appointments and stuff, I always try to swing by too!

@Daelii I think it is wonderful when kids love reading. It's such a good habit for them to have.

I really have to read the back and usually first chapter before I buy a book, especially if its 5$ or more! I don't mind taking chances on books if its like 25 cents or less to buy... if its awful, I can always re-donate it!

@Daelii yes, I do that with books sold on streets ,dirt cheap so buy indiscriminately and then donate , otherwise I am a big hoarder of books
