I was hoping England could win / myLot

I did not really watch the World Cup game this year, as I could not find the time to watch the matches. My eldest son was very excited about the games. He has been following whole game, writing down the winners and results, and watching a few live matches or replays online. This morning, he was watching the replay of semi-final between Croatia and England. We haven't check the result yet, and I was hoping England could win. I have been supporting England since I started watching World Cup game, but I was always disappointed. This time, England made it to semi-final, and I was still hoping this year they might be able to make it. I was happy to see England made the first goal, but at last, they still lost. Between France and Croatia, I would like France to be the winner.

Yes, I hope that too, but they didn't. They only won the World Cup champion once, that's in year 1966.

I have watched almost all the World Cup and I was quite disappointed to see my favourite teams, Argentina and Spain, leave the tournament quite early considering the expectations on these two teams were very high, but they didn't deserve more. The team who really deserves to be in the final is Croatia because they always played attacking, positive football and they showed a remarkable fighting spirit, so I support them in the final against France.

Yes, it's quite disappointing. I didn't watch the matches this World Cup. I used to watch in the past World Cup matches and always felt disappointed when England lost the matches. I thought this time they might make it to the final.... Which team are you supporting in the final now?

I don't have friends staying in England, but I used to watch English Premier League and knew some team players in England team and that's why I support England, though I don't follow the football matches now and I don't know any players now.
