Philippines
July 12, 2018 4:23am CST
Hello everyone. It the time of the year when we are to submit college application forms but the thing is, I am not decided yet. I want to be a doctor someday, and I am uncertain of what pre-med course should I pursue. Also, I don't want to be separated from my friends. I know that my future depends on this but I am realky undecides at the moment. What can you suggest?

You really seem to be confused. Sit down and pen down your thoughts. Keep a calm mind and take a decision.Choose something that you really love. Being separated from friends is something you have to face sooner or later. You will make new ones later.

@brokekid0212 Yes it is about your future. So take a decision with calm mind and do not get bothered by little irrelevant things.

You need to find time to think and weight it down.

If it were me, I'd pursue my dream. You can make more friends, and keep in touch with the ones you have.

Science inclined courses would be a great fit. Weigh your interests, visualize what specialization would you be in and read some of a docs thoughts here auraazarcon.com/medschooltips/whats-best-pre-med-course-filipinos/

I am not sure as I don't have any doctor friends in real life. But common sense says that you should ace in Maths and Science.

Here we concentrate more on Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Junior and Senior year of high school if we want to pursue a career in medicine or any other Science related field. Then we have Medical Entrance Exams that we need to clear so as to gain admission into Medical Colleges/ Universities after high school. Some students take coaching classes for the tests while they are in high school to prepare themselves in advance while others take a break of year or two after high school and attend those classes to prepare for the exams. It is a very competitive Exam and very rarely a student clears the exam and gain admission in Medical colleges without the coaching. In addition to Science, taking Mathematics is recommended in order to have more options in case, the career in Science didn't work out. Before opting for this career path be sure that you are committed to giving your maximum hours of the day to study. A pre-med's social life is bound to suffer because it is a demanding career and even as a student you are pretty much married to your studies.

I would say - write down the positives and negatives to each pre-med course including price, length of time, reviews of the course and it's instructors.... good luck
