What is a very bad habit to break?

Aside from mild procastination, I have a habit that is considered as an obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). I have been struggling since I was 12 and now I am 31. I have Trichotillomania. It's a hair-pulling disorder. I pull/pluck my hair by strands(on head) and I have bald spots. If I won't be able to control it, I might pull half of my hair in a day. I tried to use both of my hands when doing something, playing games on phone also helps me. The worst time I have this compelling act is before bedtime. It is depressing since I get anxious most of the time. My family is not aware of it but to cope I am joining a support group in Facebook. It helps me control myself.

it is. Since I knew I am not the only one suffering this, I am learning to accept that this could be lifetime.

@ayuzawa have you seen a doctor about this? It is said that those who have trichotillomania might have some anxiety problems or even depression. You might want to see a doctor.

@ayuzawa you have to check with a psychiatrist. When I read about your case, it may cause by anxiety or stress. SO you can deal with this better. I hope you get help. We have a lot of Psychiatrist here and it does not mean that you go to them that you are nuts.

I know this disorder. My dad also suffers from it. He couldn't get over it. I thought homeopath medicine will work. But it didn't.

I think there isn't really a cure and it's plain miracle one can get over it. I know a few who manage to stop it but still go back to it after few years. this ocd needs more studies.

My daughter used to do that. I don't think she does now but she is dealing with anxiety. I used to bite my fingernails constantly. It was a nervous habit that took years to break. I was "nudged" to quit biting my nails when I lost my biting tooth.

i think the thing that we have could be hereditary but science could not point out still what triggers the healing, unfortunately I didn't belong in that small percentage but i am hoping. making small goals at a time.

it's part of human nature but as long as we value the good side more like compassion, it will be set aside. the good will prevail.

I hope you break that habit, maybe when you're too stressed you subconsciously do that, just try listening to classic songs when you're stressed to divert it.
