We All Will Grow Old Someday

Greetings my fellow myLotters
Have you ever wondered or imagined what would happen one day when you grow old? I think about it at times, and supposing you have grown up children and all of them seem to be leading their individual lives, what would you decide to do?
Not wanting to be a hindrance to their lives, how would you spend your golden years? Would you choose to spend it living by yourself, or enrol yourself to an elderly care home or something else? Bearing in mind, this could also apply for those who aren't married, married without kids, having a deceased spouse or are divorced.
Later, mates.

@ihasaquestion Thank you. I try to do as much as I can. I have two wonderful sons that will help me if I were to call them. But for now I am lucky and don't have to ask them for help. They both have families and I don't want to take away their time with their families.

That's really awesome. You are a very independent lady, and I'm sure your sons are proud of you.

I am old, but not elderly. I am a widow and live alone. But I have guests at home often.

@marguicha I absolutely agree; just that sometimes while having fun in life, the thought about old age will at some point cross our minds.

Not everyone will be given an opportunity to grow old, if you get what I mean. I also do wonder about it some times but as for now I want to enjoy my life as it is.

I haven't thought about it much. I just know that I want to continue doing my work until the day I die and then some. I'll be a literal ghost writer haha

Yes, I wonder about when I get old. Thankfully, I'm only 69 and have a ways to go.

My friend's grandma passed away at the age of 101 before and she was a great role model.

When I was young I very rarely thought about getting old, but now that I'm there I enjoy it as best I can. The children are grown, but they don't forget my husband and I, and we live happily in our own house. No care homes for us, thank you.

Well, considering I'm already in that age group, I live alone. I don't like being a burden to anybody, and living alone does that for me. I'm pretty independent. I don't look forward to moving into a nursing home. I'd like to live on my own as long as humanly possible.

@ihasaquestion Good question but afraid I can't answer as I don't know what my thought pattern will be like when I am old. But good thing to think about when the time comes. I'd like to hope that I will be strong and still living life with or without my child / children being around all the time.

I will consider living alone when I reach older age if god permits but help most especially from my own family and relatives would be appreciated

I am heading quickly toward that age group! I would personally rather be in an old folk's home because of the companionship and skilled care. But it is expensive. So hopefully my daughter will want to take care of me, or maybe my granddaughters (they're still babies right now).

I think that's a good idea too; if we want companionship, to enrol ourselves in the home for the elderly, but it doesn't come cheap. I'm sure that your daughter will take care of you when the time comes.

That's is one hard situation to think about for now. I just hope my children will take care of me, but hopefully, I can still manage to take care of myself during those times.
