I've blew up my chance.

It started when I was in highschool, when i've been beating around the bush. Life was like that, it suddenly put you into a lost. When your lost, you make random mistakes, and that mistake makes a permanent scar, you have to own it. So after you graduated higschool, the first thing that you have to do is to pick a good course. As I was saying, I was at a lost at that time so I just started picking random course. "Uh-huh, Medical Laboratory Science"(as I was saying it on my head). I've chosen that because my cousin was also a Laboratory Scientist though it my sounds my rationalization does not make any sense. I've been doing good at my first and second year. But later on my third and fourth I've been struggling alot because of majors and my lack of dexterity during both laboratory and internship. Later I've realize that i'm pretty good with numbers and I do really like mechanical stuffs and I've found out that what i love to do as a profession was Engineering. What I learned? I learned that picking the course you really want is crucial in going to college, and I've blew my chances off.

Many students here in the United States don't decide on a major until their second or third years. They take a variety of courses until they see what they like best.

@bagarad it is different here. You have to choose first the course and pursue it. If by your third year you wish to change course, not all your subjects will be credited.

That's what I like in US, they really make sure that you were given an option but our school did'nt even seem to care where we are going.

This does happen to a few students, maybe after you graduate you can look around and find if there is a way you can integrate some part of engineering here. Nowadays lots of courses are mixed up from different disciplines

@dave121495 no it's not too late, I did not mention that option because I did not think you were thinking of it. But if you are then go ahead 2 years is nothing compared to a lifetime. Go and follow your dreams and succeed. I am saying this as I have seen peoplechanging midway also. Just a couple of days ago , a girl I know gave up graduating in mathematics and joined law beginning anew

If only I have gotten the right decision back then I would probably be happy. I'm planning to study engineering somewhere else here, i hope its not too late.

Luckily I graduated my medical studies, but i'm very unmotivated doing the work. You know strict bosses and strict guidelines should be follow once you are in the hospital.

@dave121495 First of all, welcome aboard to mylot my friend. I think your story is better than mine. I've taken a course that's not my choice, my parents choice I've finished it but if only I can turn back the time I will follow my dream course. Well, maybe it is not destined to be.

@simplfred We are always being pushed by our parents to do this and to do that, not what we love. So I hope you could find a way towards your goal.

Oh I feel you. That is why there are a lot of students who missed their chance. Not all students can decide early on what courses or career paths they want

I chose my course because there weren't many students lining up in front of the counter during enrollment. I hated waiting so there. hehe

You can always go and study what you have wanted, the only thing you lost now is the time and some money you spent for the 2 years of those medical lab that you already started. but if you choose to continue with your current course, you can still study again. It is clear that these cases happen a lot of times. I have also been through this and was really not sure about what i want to do with my life and just got into IT before because they say its pop and its the trend. I chose it and is in this profession now and I have started to love it, enjoyed it and valued it over time. I hope you will be able to find enjoyment in whatever you do and for you to be able to decide already if you want to pursue engineering.

I wanted to be a nurse when I was in Elementary, then a broadcaster in college. But my grandmother (Father's Aunt) chooses what course best for me. I end up with Criminology.

It's never too late to further your education. Make sure you get your transcripts, this way you can look at the classes you took, maybe that will help in planning your future.
