A Visit to Stratford on Avon

My brain just wasn't working today and I came up with a blank when it came to writing a post. I decided to just choose a photo from my large collection and write about it. When I brought up the choose an image it went to this folder from a trip I took to England 8 years ago. This is the River Avon and the church you can see in the background is where William Shakespear is buried. I hope it looks as good in the post as it did in my file. We saw a show while we were in town at the Swan Theatre. It was actually the first half of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. We saw the second half the next year at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

That is a very historical site. I've never traveled to England even though I have relatives who live there.

I think I have been there 4 or 5 times, we never stay in the city, usually, we rent a house in the countryside somewhere or stay at a country B&B. We did all the tourist things the first trip but we did revisit the church and of course, we always see a show. Ah the stories I have lol

@BelleStarr I ate mulberries just behind the church in one of the little gardens that were growing on the Mulberry tree which are quite rare here! Delicious they were but boy did they stain. I guess it was an easy way to spot the culprits who helped themselves!

When I first read the title of this post, I thought oh, that's near where we live. We have a Stratford on the Avon here in Ontario. Complete with a Shakespearen Festival. Its such a pretty little town, with beautiful white swans on the river.

I love England so much and this is a beautiful area. It's a bit of time that we do not visit, may be when the heat wave is over.

It's a beautiful photo, with a great story attached. That must have been a very interesting trip to be where William Shakespeare is buried and be where he lived.

It was but the most interesting one was on 9-11, 2001 we were in Stratford to see Hamlet, it was a modern interpretation with a helicopter and it was very disturbing considering what happened earlier that day. The BBC interviewed me about my reaction to the attacks, all very surreal.

Thank you, I took a lot of them that evening, some of the ducks on the river, some of just the river but I thought this was combined the river and the church nicely.
